I've done character meals before, but never by myself. My next trip, at the end of Sept., will be a solo & I do have a PS for Chef Mickey's. Does anyone have any experience as a solo diner at a character meals? Any tips? I know I'll be able to get pictures of the characters, but how can I get in them? TIA!

i did my first solo trip in April and did a character meal for breakfast at AK.
My waiter was really great about it, he made sure to come by my table so I could get a picture of me and every character. He never made any comments about me being alone, he was just very friendly and helpful. I never fely weird about being there by myself.

Go and have fun and I sure you will beable to get all the pictures you want, just ask your server :sunny:

Thanks. I thought of asking my server, but I wasn't sure that would be OK. I'm really looking forward to this trip!

I agree. Go, have fun. You will probably see other solos - we go twice a year and do at least 1 character meal each time - and we've almost always seen solos. In May at Cape May a very nice fella was seated next to us. He was nervous and we invited him to join us. All 3 of us had fun :flower:

Thanks for that info! Whenever I go solo, I stay at BCV, and I'm trying to get the courage up to do a solo character meal at Cape May Cafe. It always looks like so much fun.

Just go for it. I would do a solo though at 1900 Park Fare. Don't know about breakfast, but the dinner buffett is so darn good! Better than many other Table services.

In 2003 I did several solo breakfasts including 1900 park faire and the norway princess bfast. At 1900 my waitress happily took picture for me with pooh and the gang and the hostess took a picture of me with mary poppins in the lobby. At the princess breakfast there were several cm's (not wait staff or princesses) throughout the restaurant and one was always sure to come over for my camera when a princess stopped by. All the characters were great and I got the same attention that kids got (which was what I wanted) - I ended up with some great pics and plenty of autographs.

Thanks for all the info! I'll report back & let you all know how it worked!

I went on my first ever solo trip this past May and had breakfast at the CP for my last day. When I asked Pooh for a picture, the waitress just happened to be walking by, stopped, and asked if I wanted to be in it. She took the picture. When I asked Tigger for a picture he started to pose, then stopped, grabbed my camera, handed it to a guy at the next table, pulled me out of my chair, and motioned for the guy to take a picture of us, which he laughingly did. I returned the favor by taking a picture of his complete family with the Tigger.

i've done solo character meals as crystal palace & liberty tree. waiter or character handler were happy to take pics for me. at crystal palace a lady at the next table came over and offered to take pics for me. i even took one of her & her friend so they could both be in the pic with eeyore & tigger. go to the meal & have a great time!

On my solo trip last year, I did all 3 Princess meals and brought a stuffed bear (one of the inexpensive ones from craft stores) and put a sweater with "Princess" on it on "her" and asked the characters to pose with "Suzy" if no one was around to take a picture. I got some really cute pix and the characters were all very amused by my "dining companion".

I like it! That's a good idea.

If anyone has done any of these meals - 1900 PF (breakfast,) PSB, (lunch,) Donald's, CP, (breakfast,) CRT, (lunch.) How were they. Please feel free to PM me with as many details as possible.

Well, I got back Saturday---I just wanted you all to know that it worked out perfectly! My wonderful waitress Karen made sure I got pictures of me & the characters--I never had to ask! Plus, the food was amazing. It was a great experience.

I'm so glad to hear that! I went ahead and made ADR's at Cape May Cafe for my next solo trip, but I didn't know if I'd have the courage when the time came. Sounds like I should try it.

Take a birthday card or autograph book for your favorite "child", we do this for my neice and nephew since our kids are grown. We don't get our pictures taken, but just say "Hi" and have them sign the card. Works for us!!! We're kind of shy that way, but enjoy the food, esp Chef Mickey, which always has fond memories of when ours were little. We have my niece, age 8, with us this time and are "hitting" 7 character meals with her!!! Having only boys, I'm doing the "Princess" thing up to the tee!!! Maybe I should say "tea", since I'm also treating her to the "My Disney Girl Princess Tea"!!! :goodvibes
