A friend asked me about getting a character to help with a proposal since I'm his Disney "expert" friend LOL. Has anyone here done this? I feel like it might be something to ask Guest Services to help out with that morning, maybe? Or call ahead and ask? I feel like if they just hop in the character greeting line and do the proposal when it is their turn, that might be frowned upon, but maybe I'm overthinking that. Thoughts?

I haven't but I do know someone who had help from Snow White for her proposal. They did it during their M&G, not before hand. The character handler was involved/informed. I believe they did the rest, including getting the photographer informed too

if you are going to do it, it needs to be planned in advance. Very unlikely you get anything other than a go ahead and the character will act surprised/excited if you talk to guest services day of. any specific requests need to be asked and vetted in advance if they are even willing to do it.

I've never read the board but there is a Wedding board here. Maybe check there to see if any of the posters were engaged at Disney too? They could have ideas also

Who would he ask?

If they are in a regular M&G line, there would be very limited time. I would guess whatever CMs are there on that day would be happy to help in a very limited way - take a picture of/with the couple, clap and wave, if it's a face character they might say Congratulations. If he wants something more formal, he can book through the weddings department - they offer engagement packages. https://www.disneyweddings.com/engagements/
