Last year my daughter got autographs from the princesses, and others. Are there any unique, or "harder to get" autographs that we can try for this year?

She got Prince Charming, and Prince Naveen. Are there any other princes to get? Or other males in general (Gaston, Captain Hook?)?

Gaston is new and popular, so that would be one you could get most any day at MK. Other Princes and villains are likely to only appear at hard-ticket parties like MNSSHP, and all are good ones to get.

Naveen is out every day so he's not too hard to get. Prince Charming does a character meal at 1900 Park Fair, so he can be gotten somewhat easily as well. Noramlly the Princes do not meet except for MNSSHP and MVMCP and they also met on Valentine's Day. I did luck out and see Prince Charming with Cinderella doing a meet at Epcot last Saturday. But that's just the luck of the draw.

Gaston meets everyday in New Fantasyland near his Tavern.

The more rare characters are going to only be seen at the hard ticket parties, training meets, the marathons, or characterpalooza. Kenny the Pirate's site will give you tips on the rarer characters and where and when to see them.

Sometimes it's very hard to predict which characters will be out.

It's not always at hard-ticket parties (though that is the norm) that you see the "rarer" characters. I once walked into the MK at 1 in the afternoon and had my photo/picture taken with Darkwing Duck near the train station.

I was with a friend, so no. I'm pretty sure it would have been February of 2008.

I'm trying to meet the Tremaine Family & White Rabbit when I go to MK. And since Eeyore is no longer meeting in any of the parks, I booked a Crystal Palace breakfast mainly to meet him! I also look forward to meeting Rafiki, Pocahontas, Baloo and King Louie at AK. And I'm holding out for either Meeko or Mr. Penguin for DH's Characterpalooza.

I have met Mr. Penguin in September 2013 in front of Tonys Restaurant in MK.
In November I have seen Meeko near the hat in DHS, too.

The Tremaines are usually hard-ticket events OR you can catch them at dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian (or you could the last time I ate there).

The White Rabbit can usually be found by the tea cups.

Baloo and King Louie meet near Africa. Meeko you can sometimes catch with/near Pocahontas.

If I saw Darkwing at the park I would not only get a photo with him with my sister's kids (I recently introduced them to Darkwing Duck through the DVDs) I would then hand the camera over to my sister and get a photo with him myself....

On our last trip we got to MK at rope drop on a EMH morning. The at Tremaine family opened and rode the carousel with guests. My daughter it to ride on a horse next to Anastasia and was beside herself. That was a pretty cool interaction and completely unexpected. I'm sure it is a common occurrence but not sure if it is regular (everyday, just EMH, etc)

The Tremaine family is out in the mornings at MK, your best bet for characters is Palooza at the studios any were from 10-15 characters appear every day weather permiting. Check Kenny's site for times as it depends on the Fantasmic hours.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I feel bad as I was just trying to suggest characters to the OP with my preferences. I know I may not meet all these characters, but I am definitely going to try to do characterpalooza and hopefully see the Tremaine Family/White Rabbit in MK one of the mornings.

The Tremaines always start out their Fantasyland day with a ride on the carrousel. Then they meet over near the new castle walls. But they only meet in the mornings. I think their last meet is before noon.

Meeko is a pretty common one at the Palooza. I've seen him several times recently.

Mr. Penguin is often with Mary Poppins up front near the entrance where she does her meetings in the morning. I also saw Mr. Penguin sub for Mary Poppins over in Epcot (UK) last Saturday.
