I am looking for suggestions for character dinners. We're going in February, so Crystal Palace won't be open. Also, we're going with our son, who says "princesses are only for girls" so no princess meals. So if you have any favorite character dinners, what are they? Thanks!

If you're there during the CP refurb, LTT will have characters during that time. We always used to eat at LTT for dinner until they took the characters away. Minnie, Goofy, Pluto & Chip n Dale will be there in colonial garb and the character interaction is pretty good. The food isn't great, but it's fairly good: steak, turkey, dressing, mac & cheese, etc. served family style.

Chef Mickey at the Contemporary is great. Mickey, Minnie, Donald and I think Pluto(?) are there. It is an all you can eat buffet and an easy hop on the monorail/stroll to the Magic Kingdom.

You can also try the Garden Grill at Epcot. As far as I know they don't do lunch anymore so it would have to be dinner, but you could always make an early dinner ressie (like 4.30 pm) if you are concerned about keeping the kids out too late or have other plans for the evening.

O'Hana at the Polynesian has Lilo and Stitch and is also a quick hop on the monorail to the MK.

Animal Kingdom has a character meal at Tusker House with Mickey & Co. but it is breakfast only AFAIK.

Happy Planning!

I wanted to book CP at MK during my trip; both myself and one of my traveling companions love Pooh.

We couldn't get it for the night I wanted, but the system suggested 1990 Park Fare at the GF. Our reservation is about one hour before the fireworks, so we will get to see them from the GF. I have run into a few people who did the dinner and said the evil stepsisters are absolutely hilarious - they are true to character.

I can't wait. In all my trips down there, I have never done a character meal - can you believe it?

You won't get to see the fireworks from 1900 Park Fare unfortunately...the restaurant has no windows. If you are done before the fireworks you can go out and see them though :thumbsup2

Our first choice is ALWAYS Chef Mickeys but I have found we like the others as well. Garden Grill is kinda cool cause it does slowly rotate through The Land at EPCOT but the food is just average. 1900 Park Fare was fun but is more of a "princessy" character meal but Prince Charming is there! We LOVE O'Hana for Breakfast! I have not tried Tusker House or Cape May.

I think I can honestly say we have never really been disappointed in any of the character meals. Whatever you choose will be great. But... just in case you want character details I have listed them below:

Chef Mickeys (Contemporary) is Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto.
1900 Park Fare (Grand Flor) for bfast is Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter and a few others. For dinner its Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia & Drizella.
O'Hana (Poly) is Lilo, Stich, Mickey and Pluto (Breakfast only)
Garden Grill (EPCOT) is Mickey, Chip & Dale, and Pluto (Dinner)
Tusker House (Animal Kingdom) is Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Mickey (Bfast)
Cape May (Beach Club) is Minnie, Goofy and Donald

**I did not put any of the Princess stuff on here since your son is not interested. I hope this helps!

We love Cap May for breakfast. The character interaction is wonderful and we found it to be one of the better breakfast buffets. Last time we went the characters were Goofy, Chip and Dale, and I believe Daisy.

Thanks for all the detail, Gina. I was planning on Chef Mickey's, so maybe that will be our dinner, since there doesn't seem to be a lot of variety for character meals except at breakfast.

Chip and Dale is no longer at Cape May. It is Minnie Goofy and Donald.

We love Chef Mickeys for Dinner but we also love 1900 Park Fare for dinner. I know it is a princess meal but the stepsisters are funny. The Garden Grill is good for guys I think because all the characters are in things like overalls, farm clothes. The food is average but the characters were great. And O'Hana is good for breakfast.

You are more than welcome! Good Luck! :goodvibes

We have had dinner at Chef Mickey's. It has an ok selection of food but the desserts are yummo!!!!!!
