character dinner after wedding?

my parents have offered to take everyone out for dinner after the wedding, i've been looking at prices of dinners at the resort hotels and was wondering if anyone has been to a character dinner after the wedding? would this be tacky? would i be likely to get away with wearing my dress in the restaurant? we're thinking of maybe chaf mickeys or 1900 park fare. (we're trying to keep prices down)

I think a character meal after the wedding would be very much fun! As long as you pick a place that's outside of the parks, you'll be able to wear your dress.

We had dinner at 1900 Park Fare last summer and while we were there, a wedding party came in for dinner. They seemed to be having so much fun and got lots of attention from Cinderella and Prince Charming. They had tables set up in the back and everyone applauded them when they came in. I think it would be a great idea to have a character dinner after seeing the last one.

i think a character buffet dinner would be just fine for an intimiate wedding and i think your bridal attire would be no problem as the 2 buffets you're looking at are at wdw resorts.

we had a large family vacation at wdw before where all 25 of us went to 1900 park fare for the character meal, it was a casual dinner but the grand floridian made it very special with its great ambiance & in my opinion 1900 has the best food of the character buffet dinners outside the parks. At dinner time they now have cinderella & friends at the 1900, so great photo op's too. Although chef mickeys is nice & a close runner up. it has a more modern fun wdw atmosphere i'd say. the disney 2005 birnbaums addition says the dinners cost $26/ per adult & $11 per child at both these buffets.

you can also get some fun pictures with the monorail at either resort, i saw anothers bride's picture with the monorail & was suprised how much i loved it & how great it was!

I know that another disney bride on this board had dinner at the 1900 park fare after her wedding, the pictures turned out really cute, and after dinner you will have a great view of the fireworks from the GF.

We had dinner at 1900 fare after our wedding and it was wonderful. We got great pictures and everyone loved it. After dinner we got pitures at the marina w/ fireworks in the backround.
