Not long now till our DLP trip and we're all getting a wee bit excited.........! I'm looking for some info on character dining - what are the options available? I'd rather not do breakfast - so lunch/dinner preferably. I think I read about Cafe Mickey.....what's it like? Can I make an ADR?

cheers!!!

Hi Cath

I would definately recommend Cafe Mickey. We had an evening meal there and it was one of the highlights of our last trip. The characters were brilliant and seemed to spend ages with every table. The food was great and I really don't think it was that expensive, compared to the other places we ate at. The service was fab and generally I could not fault the place. :cheer2:
We will definately be going there when we go again in January(120 sleeps to be exact :hourglass ). My daughter(11) is a disney nut like me and my son(8) can really take it or leave it (not sure why he hasn't inherited my disney genes!!) but Cafe Mickey definately won him over and he is talking about it now.
We booked a day in advance but I think some people just go and wait for a table.

We are thinking about trying the Lucky Nugget and Inventions as well when we go again

Have a great time and it'd be wonderful to read your trip report when you get back. :surfweb:

We had dinner at Innventions (6.30pm slot) and had the charcters to ourselves for ages !. We also did the tea party at Plaza gardens.

I would recommend both

Hi Cath :wave2: You can definitely pre-book character meals but unlike WDW you would get away with booking at when you are there.
If you have got specific day in mind then reserving might be advisable :)

In order of preference of the ones we've done
Cafe Mickey - Evening
Lucky Nugget - Lunch
Plaza Gardens - Tea

Although we usually have at least one character breakfast booked I do find they're a bit of a waste as we're usually all in too much of a hurry to get into the park to really enjoy it. I think that's why Cafe Mickey wins for me, I reserved it for our first night, so we had a couple of hours in the park, then we checked in, had a bit of a rest and clean up and headed over to Cafe Mickey for 6.30, where we stayed until almost 10.00pm - it was a wonderful start to the holiday.

I'm hoping to try Inventions next time :)

Cath, we've done Inventions twice and thoroughly recommend it ~ like Angela said try for 6.30pm or 7pm, it's quieter then. Characters are only there at dinner time, not at lunch.

We've been to Cafe Mickey for dinner and had a fantastic time, even though it was over Christmas and really really busy. This is on our to do list for next time.

We've done the Lucky Nugget at lunchtime twice, we like it very much although the food is not as fancy as at Inventions but then that's reflected in the price.

It has now become a tradition for us to have the Sunday Character Brunch at the Steakhouse in the Village. This is only ever half-full and is a very relaxing place to be.

Next problem you will have is deciding where to eat ~ that's the trouble with DLRP, there are too many good restaurants and not enough days to eat in them! :rotfl:

I've heard this mentioned before but never seen it advertised anywhere, do you pre-book ?

I couldn't agree more. :)

We always do but it can't be necessary ~ both times we've been only half the tables were filled.
