Character Dining update as of Jan 3, 2007

I finally got someone on the phone who could give me information on character dining at Universal HOTELS...the only thing I know about character dining in the parks is that it is at IOA and features Spiderman and Cat/Hat.

Trattoria del Porto @ Portofino Bay
Fridays from 6-9pm
Italian buffet
$29.95/adult and $12.95/child

The Kitchen @ Hard Rock Hotel
Saturdays and Wednesdays from 6-9pm
American buffet
$26.75/adult and $17.75/child

Islands Dining Room @ Royal Pacific
Saturdays from 6-9pm
Polynesian buffet
$25.75/adult and $16375/child

Characters at all usually include Scooby Doo, Shrek and Woody Woodpecker, but of course are subject to change.

Why is a character breakfast such a deal maker/deal breaker? Its a guy in a suit. I have kids, and while they like to take pics with the characters...breakfast is not the time they like to hang with people in suits. I dont know...maybe its just me..or maybe its just disney conditioning.....

No one ever said it was a deal maker/breaker. It is just something fun that you don't get to do everyday that families enjoy. Why knock it? Why do people buy FOTL tickets or Hopper passes? It all adds to the experience each family is after.

I've seen, on the Disney side of these very same boards people say, and I quote "I wont go to Universal because they dont have very good character dining like disney does".
Most of the things I've seen on this side of the board are along the lines of "Is cat in the Hat and spiderman the only characters that Universal offers character breakfast with?" Seems like its pretty high on the priority list of people wanting who normally go to disney.
