Hey everyone. I love reading the solo area of DISboards.com!

I am taking my very first trip to WDW in August (right before I start WDW CareerStart) and I'm very excited, but a little nervous to be taking this trip by myself.

I will be going August 22-27, and I splurged and got tickets to Disney's Pirate and Princess Party for August 24 (basically, I'm young at heart!)

I was wondering, is there anything else I should get tickets for? I don't want to miss out on my first trip to WDW with being able to stay after closing and things.

I also would love to do Character Dining, but being solo...is it still fun? My choice would be the Mary Poppins & Burt at 1900. Any tips?

Thanks so much!

Hi,

I really enjoyed the character breakfast at 1900 Park Fare, and I do recommend it. (Bert wasn't there, and I don't think he goes to that one - or any other one I know of.) They had Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter, and Tigger. Great characters and food.

My preference is to arrange to meet up with other solos for character meals and other dining at WDW. To me, that's more fun than dining alone. This board is a great place to find solos to meet up with.

I have been to most of the Character Dining meals. :cool1: If you are going solo...I would recommend CHEF MICKEY in the Contemporary Resort. It is so much fun! There are a lot of characters and the food is really good. No one cares if you are going solo or not. I think you would really like it. The characters I saw were...::MinnieMo Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Donald. Another great character meal is at the Magic Kingdom - in the Crystal Palace. The building is breathtaking. These are the Pooh characters - Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore. Sometimes the characters might change a little, but they usually stay pretty much the same. Write back if you have any questions about a certain character meal. I would be happy to help you!! ENJOY!!! And get some autographs, it is a lot of fun! :hippie:

Bobsdisneymoney,

Thanks for the info. I am really interested in the Character Meal at 1900 with Mary Poppins.

I just did breakfast at CP my last trip and Pooh actually sat down with me for several minutes and then Eyeore came by and took me by the hand and hugged me. I had great interaction that I wasn't expecting. (do tell the truth I was going for the French Toast, but loved the character interaction I got too)

3 musts in my book....

1) Character Meal (pick a meal but don't just pick any location). Whatever your favorite character is or has been will largely dictate where you go. If Pooh & Friends does it for you then Crystal Palace is the best of the bunch. It is just off the 'hub' and a stones throw fron the castle.

2) Fantasmic at MGM Studios. When it comes to lights and lasers and water and boats and smoke and special effects, nothing in the world tops this. You might also consider booking this as a dinner package using either of Brown Derby or Hollywood & Vine (the latter is BS); neither are charter meals BTW.

3) Illuminations at Epcot in World Showcase. Shown nightly at 9:30, guest flock the world from all other parks just to see this. While not as techincally driven as Fantasmic, this is probably the second best that takes place in the center of the lagoon itself.

Of course, there are other things to see and do but that will obviously be predicated on your interests and how much time you will have.

I have to give a mention to the Character Breakfast at Ohana as well.... Lilo, Stitch, Pluto, and Mickey! Pluto tried to steal my wife.... twice. :lmao:
