I was wondering if anyone knows if Disney still does the character calls to kids? I sorts remember this being done a long time ago, but can't find anything about it now? Am I assuming right that this was to tell kids about their upcoming Disney vacation? If anyone knows what this is about I would appreciate it!

If Disney doesn't do this, here's what I did when my kids were little. My youngest is now 38years old.

I'd have someone at my work call my kids as a characters. Goofy was a fun one.
Santa was their favorite one to call as Dec 25th approached. Santa's pep-talk was perfect. It got them even more excited for the holidays. We did this for many years. It was fun for the kids and for my Santa at work. Good memories...

They do wake up calls at the onsite hotels but I don't know about pre trip calls.

Disney still does wake up calls and welcome calls, from Mickey. Last time I saw this was this past July @ the Beach Club.

They did this in 2012 when we did our Disney Cruise (my DD not-quite-4 was OVERJOYED to get a call from the Big Cheese himself, welcoming her aboard). I don't know about the parks these days.
