We actually love buffets with younger kids. On our last trip we had a 3 and 6 year old, and found that taking trips up to the buffet were a great way to let the kids stretch their legs, get out some wiggles and keep them occupied while we were waiting for characters. My husband and I alternated bringing "adult plates" with lots of options to choose from back to the table each time we went up, and then ate off those plates family-style. The little ones loved being able to choose an item or two at a time to try it, then return to choose something else. When we return this year as a family of five, we will likely choose buffets over family-style restaurants for this reason!
