Character Brunch at Swan/Dolphin

Has anyone had the character brunch at the Swan/Dolphin?? I made all our PS arrangements (Dec.23-Jan.2) but I did not make any for the last day we will be there as we have to leave for the airport at 1:00. We are staying at the Dolphin so we are thinking brunch there the morning we are to leave maybe a good choice. When I calle dot make PS I was told to call the hotel directly so I did and then was told you do not need ressies??? Does this sound right? I am going to call agian tomorrow to make sure but this didnt sound right to me especially since it is a saturday and it is a character brunch. Anyone ever eaten there? How was the food?? What did they have?? Thanks for any infor in advance.

We've done the character breakfasts (and even one dinner) at the Swan and the Dolphin each. We have never had a problem being seated right away. In fact, there was probably no more than 5 other tables taken in the restaurant each time.

They had the normal buffet fare including MTO Omlettes.

We went there once and never again. The food (breakfast) was ok, nothing special. The service was awful and the restaurant was only half filled. Only one character came around in an hour and I asked to see the other because we had to leave and the character was just standing by the wall. We were there almost 2 hours and the waiter was rude. It took half hour to bring the check even though we had told them we were leaving for home.

Although we never went the character brunches, we've been to Gulliver's (Garden Grove at brunch) for the character dinner on several occasions. Has always been very good with excellent service. There are only 2 characters there at this meal. Some nights they are Pluto and Goofy and other nights, Timon and Raffiki. DD is terriffied of Raffikki so we can't go on those nights anymore.

I believe Gullivers/Garden Grove would be the only character brunch now (at the S/D) since they are renovating the old Coral Cafe at the Dolphin into a new restaurant. It used to only be on Saturday mornings, not sure if this is still the case.

Each visit we saw Chip, Dale and Goofy and they were never scarce for us. Maybe you caught them on a bad night. In fact, we quite a few pictures on my webshots album (link below) of these character breakfasts.


Just a note -- I would definitely not count this as a *best* character dining experience. But if you want a non-crowded place where you'll have no problems getting photos with characters, then this is the one for you!
