We are heading back to Disney in three weeks and have done the goofys breakfast in May and Minnie's plaza inn in dec. I just made reservations for story tellers but am wondering if the paradise pier one where we are staying may be better. My son is 2.5 hrs old and know the main characters. Which both the previous ones had. But I've heard the storyteller may have more off wall not as common characters? Who's been to both which is better for this age?

Storytellers features woodland/nature themed animals (e.g., Chip and Dale, Meeko, Kida, etc.). Surf's Up (at PPI) features Mickey and friends (we saw Stitch, Daisy, Pluto, and Mickey).

Thanks I really wanted to just eat in grand californian. But looks like I should change it to our hotel one.

Surf's Up has the best character interaction of any character meal I've been to. I highly recommend it!

I love the character interaction at Surf's Up, they pay a lot of attention to you. It was a lot of fun too.

Storytellers imo had the best food out of all the character breakfasts, but Surf's Up is close behind it. :)

I agree, Surf's Up gives awesome character interactions. I've taken my God Son many times and he absolutely loves it! He's danced with Daisy and, Surfed with Mickey and Stitch. :)

We took our daughter to surfs up at that age and she LOVED it. Lots of character interaction! My daughter was dancing with the characters the whole time and barely are lol. Mickey would go right up and sit down with her, dance with her, etc. my son, on the other hand, was 5 and would turn beet red and go silent if any approached him...he stayed at the table with me lol.
However, we now tend to go to Goofy's Kitchen. We are vegetarian and that has a larger selection of food for us.
For character interaction, I definitely recommend surfs up at least once, especially at that age!

The truth is the character interaction can be spectacular or a dud on any given day. It just depends on the mood of your character, the mood of your kids, and how full the dining room is.

I would choose based on who you want to meet. Surf's Up has a pretty set lineup of 5 characters. Storyteller's usually only has 4. If 2 of those are Chip and Dale, the selection of surprise characters is pretty slim. I would probably choose Surf's Up on that alone. That said, Storyteller's is a beautiful restaurant and I'm glad we tried it.
