We might have half a day extra to spend in disneyland area. We were thinking of just going to DTD for this as we won't have an extra days ticket. Are there any character breakfasts you can go to without having to have an entry ticket for the parks?

Yes, there are 3 character breakfasts you can do. Goofy's at the DLH, Chip & Dale at Storyteller's Cafe at the GCH and Lilo & Stitch at Paradise Pier.
The only character breakfast that requires park entrance is at Minnie & Friends at the Plaza Inn in DL.

We usually do a character breakfast the day we leave, that way the kids still see their friends before we leave. We did the Lilo and Stitch breakfast this year and it was great. Not overly crowded like the goofy one, and we were able to order off a menu and not have to spend $$$ on the buffett. The kids actually ate their food and we saw Lilo, Stitch, Minnie, Daisy and Max. Max even sat on my dd-1.5 highchair and colored with her.

Have fun!

We enjoyed the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at the Paradise Pier hotel, but I would advise against the one at Goofy's Kitchen!!

Last fall, we went there to have our last little bit of pixie dust before driving home, and there were only a few characters. At that, I had to find/ask the manager to make sure that Alice (the only girl 'face' character there) would come to our table...and we still had a wait of 20 minutes or more. We were there about 2 hours, and we spent a good bit of that time waiting for characters to come (and they didn't).

It wasn't just me, either. A mom from school took her family a few months later, and the very same thing happened to them (I'd warned her in advance too...).

I called Guest Services about it, was told that I should have complained right then and there (but I didnt' because we were with friends and I didn't want to make a fuss, even though I felt like an idiot for recommending it to them). I was THEN told that if I wanted a good character breakfast experience, we should have gone to the Plaza Inn!! I was floored by that. :scared1:

So...my advice? Go see Lilo and Stitch at the Paradise Pier.

I second this. I know quite a few people go to Goofy's Kitchen and have a good experience, but we went and the character interaction was worse than any other character meal we have had (we have eaten at all of them except for Plaza Inn), and the staff acts like they could care less (give us your money, eat, and get out of our way, we have more people to get in here).

I went there on my daughters birthday because of the good reviews it received, but left very upset. Even more, I felt really bad to drag my daughter in there on her 5th birthday just to see tons of characters walking around, but only have a few of them visit our table. The bad part was, our table was near the exit for the characters as they would go on break, so they would walk right by us as they went to break, and the new ones would walk right by us and go to the "heart" of the restaurant.

I spend (waste) thousands of dollars each trip to Disneyland going to multiple character meals, eating every meal in the parks, spending tons of $$$ (almost $1,000 just on the first day of our recent trip) on merchandise, but will never waste another dollar of my money at Goofy's kitchen.

That's my $0.02 HTH

It's funny because we had the opposite experience at Goofy's as the previous two posts. We had seven characters in an hour at our table. I think it depends on the time you go and if it is off season. We went in Jan. at 7:30 a.m. and it was great.
We did Storyteller's on this last Sat. Food was excellent but character interaction was not good at all. We knew it would not be up to Goofy's but we wanted to try it. We had to wait 30 min. extra for Koda and finally our waiter felt sorry for us and went and got him. There was a 20 min. time period when only one character was on the floor.
I wish they would take the food at Storyteller's and put it at Goof's.

I have to agree with the negative reviews on Goofy's Kitchen. We had a HORRIBLE experience there and will never go back. It was my son's 6th birthday, and we were practically ignored the entire time. No service, no characters and CRAPPY greasy food. And it was off season, late February, so I see no reason to give them another shot.

The only character breakfast we will repeat is Storytellers which was like a dream for us. We LOVED it. :thumbsup2
