We have not done a character breakfast in yeeeeeaaaaarrrrrrs. We want to do one this year for DS2. DS loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so we would like one that includes some of those characters, but I can't decide between Goofy's Kitchen, Surfs Up, and Minnie & Friends. The big downside to Minnie and Friends is that we would lose park time whereas the other two we could go to at 8:00 when the parks don't open until 10. Which one would be the better choice for food options and character interaction?

If DS loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, I would say go to Goofy's or Surf's Up. Minnie's has a variety of characters, but usually just Chip and Dale and Minnie from Clubhouse. :)

I haven't been to Goofy's Kitchen, but when I went to Surf's Up we saw Mickey (photo op at the entrance), Daisy, Pluto, and Stitch. Minnie was also there, but went on break (and didn't return) before we could meet her.

I've never been to Surf's Up, but for your requirements I'd go there. Especially since the park doesn't open until 10am. It'd be a fun way to spend the morning while waiting for the park to open.

I just did Minnie's breakfast at Plaza Inn at first reservation at 710am this morning and it was amazing. The food was great and the character interactions were above what I expected. As just 2 adults we love them all and they all had a blast with my husband and I. We saw Captain Hook, Fairy Godmother, Chip, Dale, Minnie, Max, Tigger, Pooh, Eeyore, Rafiki, the girl mouse from Cinderella (I forgot her name). They were all so great with all the guests and Tigger bounced with me and helped me choose a chocolate muffin, apparently Tigger loves chocolate too!

I just wanted to share my experience too!

Goofy's Kitchen has Goofy (probably at the entrance), Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale -- and a very large buffet (the largest of all the character meals). It is only a character meal, meaning it doesn't have to transition into non-character meal mode, but it will be closed for a few hours in between brunch and dinner. On some days it closes at noon; other days it closes at 1 p.m.; and still other days it closes at 2 p.m. (I think it depends on the day of the week and the time of the year -- peak season or off peak.) I think that it reopens for dinner at 5 p.m. or close to that time.

I love Surfs Up, especially since its the only place you can meet Stitch. Personally I like to schedule it at a later time, like 10 am, because there are less people and the kids get more time with the characters and Mickey :) (who only stands at the entrance to greet/take photos, and join in dance time).
