Hi ladies and gents

We'll be in Orlando for a church event the first week of August and will be staying for our vacation afterward. My mom (67) and sister wil be joining my family for one day of our Disney vacation. This will be their first time @ WDW. We will be spending that day in Epcot.

I was thinking about some special meal or even a character meal, that would not necessarily need to be in Epcot. I was leaning to a breakfast since Epcot doesn't usually open until 9AM. I know there is a character breakfast at Akershus, but $30.00 per person ($150.00 total) is a little high for my budget. And I don't know that princesses would be her favorite. Do you have any suggestions for another breakfast at another resort?:confused3

Thanks

There are lots to choose from! Myself, I have always liked 1900 Park Faire at the Grnad Floridian, and since you're going with adults they might really like to see the resort. It is easy to get to since it's on the Monorail too.

Ive never been to WDW, but going on first vacation this Sept. I've asked around quite a bit about what character meals are good. I don't know if these are the best, but so far they are what I've come up with

Crystal Palace (inside the Magic Kingdom), Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet
1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian Resort), Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter (I believe these are the morning characters - while Cinderella is for dinner)

I really enjoyed Cape May Cafe's breakfast with Minnie, Donald & Goofy last October. I plan on going again this year. It's not real crowded. the buffet is like $19 for adults & the food was really good.

This morning we had a delicious breakfast with Goofy :goofy:, Minnie ::MinnieMo and Donald :donald: at Cape May Cafe (Beach Club). The characters, dressed in beach attire, spent lots of time with kids - young and old. Donald was especially funny.

The Beach Club is the closest resort to the International Gateway at Epcot - perhaps a 5-minute walk.

You can't go wrong with Goofy's Cape May Breakfast Buffet. The price is $19 per person.

Enjoy!

Normally, I would recommend Crystal Palace in a heartbeat for the food and characters. However, if you are only going to Epcot you won't be able to go to that one. Therefore, I would definitely suggest Cape May Cafe with Minnie, Goofy & Donald. We went last year and the character interaction was great; the characters did not rush, took lots of pictures, and the food was good too. It wasn't overly crowded like Chef Mickey's.

For you I would definitely recommend Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. It's one of the cheapest (if not THE cheapest) character breakfast on property. You get Minnie, Goofy and Donald in beachwear. It's a really fun environment and it's not as loud and crazy as some of the other character breakfasts. There's also a ton of food and everything is really good.

If we go to Cape May can we park there at the resort and walk to Epcot even though we're staying somewhere else, or would we have to leave after eating and park in the Epcot lot?

I would pick either: Chef Mickey's (Cont.) with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy. Or 1900 Park Fare (GF) with Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter, Pooh and Tigger.

Both are on the Monorail. You can park at EPCOT and take the monorail to the resorts or drive to the resort and then park at EPCOT.

You will have to move the car at any of the resorts-I think you only get 2hrs parking time.

When you pass the security gate at any resort, and tell the CM you are there for a meal, you will receive a 3 hour parking pass. Strictly speaking, you would have to move your car to Epcot after the meal.

All of the character meals (Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, 1900 PF) are about the same price as Akershus.

Cape May is your best bet.

I would suggest, as an ultra cheap option, a counter service meal at a resort. Pop's breakfast was still great, even though not a table service.
