Traveling to WDW the week before Christmas with a family that doesn’t celebrate the holiday. We go quite often this time of year and we are familiar with all the decorations and joyous music. But we were curious if there was a place we could take their young children for a character meal where the characters are not dressed in Christmas clothes. I want them to have lots of pictures to remember their trip.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the only character meal where they dress up for the holidays is Hollywood & Vine.

If they don’t “celebrate” Christmas, what difference does a costume make. I am being serious. It is not like you are participating in communion. It’s a costume. I don’t think any of the characters are specific to any religion and I doubt the family visiting will mind a character In a red or green outfit.

I don’t recall at the character breakfasts we have been to during some Thanksgiving weeks wearing holiday costumes - Crystal Palace, Tusker House, Cape May, or Chef Mickey’s. I am of another religion and love seeing the decorations in the parks and at resorts. We enjoy the storytellers at Epcot and have attended MVMCP and Candlelight Processional. I know everyone’s comfort level is different so would suggest you check with them and see about what they would be ok with.

The only character meal we've experienced (week after Thanksgiving/first week of December) where they were in holiday attire has been lunch/dinner at Hollywood and Vine. The breakfast at Hollywood & Vine is Disney Junior characters and not in holiday attire. Every other character meal we've done in that timeframe (Chef Mickey's, Garden Grill, Tusker House) has the characters just in their typical-to-that-venue attire (Chef Mickey = chef costumes, Garden Grill = overalls/bandana for Mickey and Pluto, Tusker House = safari clothing).

Many people would rather not hang pictures in their home or post photos celebrating a holiday their family doesn’t participate in. There will already be Christmas Trees and bells and tinsel and candy canes and everything everywhere. Maybe they want a photo of their child with Mickey Mouse that looks like the Mickey the kids see on tv.
