We are looking for a good character breakfast to attend in May. We saw the Restaurantosaurus had one at the Animal Kingdom, and thought it would be a good one on the day we attend Animal Kindom. We need some questions answered though.

Is this a good one?
Is it worth $17 per person?
How early do the buses run from Pop Century since the park does not open until 9:00 AM?

Any infor is appreciated. :earsboy:

We loved Donald's Breakfastasauras last November. Our group of six was me, my Hubby, brother, 4-year old nephew, sister-in-law and her mom. We all had a great time.

Make the earliest PS you can for the freshest food. (Plus you get into AK before the rope drop and can beat the crowds on many rides when you are done eating). The buffet was excellent--sooooo many choices. Everything was tasty and at the right temp (I like my hot food hot and my cold food cold).

Characters were wonderful and so was our server, Billy. He let us know that it was safe to get our food before the characters started their rounds. We visited with Mickey, Donald, Pluto and Goofy.

Hope you enjoy as much as we did!

And welcome to the DIS!!

We were there just last Thursday (April 1).

We felt that Donalds was okay, but that Chef Mickey's which we did last April was much better. The food at Donalds is typical breakfast faire - Chef Mickey's is the same - but you have a much larger selection, maybe even some lunch items (I think the kids got some cookies).

At Donalds we had 3 of the 4 characters visit us back to back to back - things felt a little rushed, our Chef Mickey experience the characters were more evenly spaced.

The atmosphere at Chef Mickey's ( a birthday party) was more festive than at Donalds. We were seated in an overflow area- not the main dining area at Donalds - that also took away from the atmosphere.

Lastly - Donald's messed up our check - they double billed us. We paid using room charge, they charged us the bill before the tip, then after we added the tip they re-entered the complete charge (including the tip) a second time.

Next time we go we will either repeat chef Mickeys, do the Pooh breakfast at Crystal Palace, or one of the Princess breakfasts if we are able to get a PS. The likes and ages of your children have some bearing on what character breakfast is best for your own family - our children are DS 6y0m, DD 3y9m.

The food and selection was very good at this breakfast. With that being said, it has been our least favorite. They herd you to the restaurant like cattle and then jam as many people and tables as they can into the space. The characters zipped around, barely pausing for pictures. Our server was non existent, except to bring the check. And, they really hawked the family photo, which annoyed me. Glad I did this once, but probably won't do it again. BTW, we had an 8:30 seating (park opened at 9) and it was in July, so it was pretty crowded.

This has become a favorite of ours and we will be returning next Month. We have had great servers, the food is a nice selection and the characters are typical.

We went to Restaurantosaurus last year and were quite dissapointed by it.we had a big group (my mum, dad, brother, gran, 2 cousins, uncle and aunt) and it wasnt as good as Hollywood and Vine which we had visited the year before (but its not doing breakfasts anymore). i wouldnt pass up the oppertunity though because it was a great experience and still really great fun!

We would always go to Restaurantosaurus on each trip to WDW until I looked at the floor one morning while eating and saw a roach that had to be 1.5 inches long. I know there are roaches in FL, but I don't want them at my feet when I'm eating a breakfast as expensive as this one.

hi:wave:

wow:earseek: i am now deciding not to eat here::yes::

This is a must do on our list. I get a made to order veggie omelet. They are wonderful.

We've always had great service and character interaction.
Personally I like that the characters aren't spaced out. I had rather get then all taken care of at once so we can go back and forth to the buffet without worrying about missing a characters. The servers are top notch in my book. Always lots of fun that adds to the atmosphere.

Well, we really like the place. We found the food hot and delicious. The variety was huge and both the service and characters were great. We tried CM this trip instead and were not happy. Less selection, just ok food and poor service. I would not like to see a roach at breakfast, but guess that could happen anywhere.

we have enjoyed donald's several times. we are going again in may!! the buffet is good as is the service we have had. we have never had a problem w/the photo. there have been times we have even bypassed the "photo op." keep in mind this is one of the few places to see donald. although it seems donald is being seen more and more in the parks.

We went there last May and had a blast! Our server did a bunch of magic tricks and my boys loved the archeological theme. I personally think this is probably the best character breakfast for boys. Also, my eight year old loves Donald (kind of shares his temperment) and the characters spent more time with us here than any other character breakfast we've done.

Have fun!:bounce:

We too have eaten at Donalds Breakfasaurous (sp) and liked it! Its one of the favorites on my list to make a PS for in our upcoming Dec trip :)

We have never experienced cold food and if the charactures seemed to rush along I would just ask nicely if I could get the picture I wanted. One time we were waiting for Minnie Mouse and we told someone there what we were waiting for and they got her :) Sometimes it just takes some patience waiting as sometimes I think confusion messes up their path :teeth:

This is a must-do for us every trip. My younger DS is a huge Donald fan, but we all really enjoy this meal. The food has always been fresh and hot, we've never felt rushed, and we've had a couple of really fun CM's here.

I've heard other people mention being pushed to get the family picture, and I guess we've just been lucky, but no one has ever even mentioned this to us! :D

Icky on the roach! Unfortunately, in Florida this could happen anywhere, and at one time or another probably has. :p

We have done this breakfast twice. I think the food is very good. I agree the characters are a little rushed, but we don't do it for the characters, we do it to ride Dinosaur before anyone else. We make an 8am PS and are done by 8:45. We head right over to Dinosaur and they have let us ride before the park even opens. Then we race over to the Safari and get right on. If your kids are old enough for these rides I would highly recommend this for your day at AK, especially if you are going during a busy time.

We have eaten at both and I have to say that while it was fair to good the one at Chef Mickey was great!! I thought that Chef Mickeys characters stayed at the tables longer and the food was really good!!!

We ate at Donald's Breakfastosaurus during our trip in early April of this year and had a wonderful time. We were a party of 10 with 5 children under the age of 7. Our PS was for 8 am on the early entrance day for Animal Kingdom.

We stayed at Pop Century and buses begin running 1 hour before park entrance time so we had no problem getting to the park in time for our reservation. However, be warned that the restaurant is a good hike into Animal Kingdom (in Dinoland) and it will take you a little time to actually get to the restaurant.

There were 4 characters there when we were there (Mickey, Pluto, Goofy and Donald) and they all stopped by each table (one at a time) for pictures and autographs - the kids loved it. We liked the buffet and there was something for everyone. From danish to pancakes to scrambled eggs to bacon to hash browns, etc. Good variety I thought and tasted good too.

This will definetly be a repeat for us next time. ::yes::

Have fun.

I have to say this was not one of our favorites. The character interaction was rushed even though we were at the first seating. I do have to say the the main benefit was being so close to the Dinosaur ride and riding it one of the first loads. We did like the food it was fresh and plentiful. If you go for food and not the characters then this is a good choice, otherwise, I would say avoid it. I have always found the best character interaction at Ohanna.

We ate here for the first time back in December, and I wasn't too impressed with the food. The items I picked just didn't taste good. For me this is a big factor in whether we'll go back again in the future. The layout of the buffet seemed confusing, especially with mobs of people everywhere! I didn't know where the line was or anything!

Because we went in December, the restaurant was decked out in holiday decor, and the characters looked very festive. We got our pictures taken with the characters. This is where I got my $17 worth!

Next time, I'll try Chef Mickey's.

We were there two weeks ago. We have done six different character breakfast and this was probley average. Nothing special, however nothing to complain about. The food I thought was great DW thought was just OK. Character interaction was good we arrived almost one hour late for our PS and waited only 5 min to be seated. Would we go back sure, however it would not be our first choice.
