Character Breakfast/Resort Restaurant Questions

I'm really sorry for being a thread hog, but I'm trying to get all my ducks lined up and ADRs made.

I currently have a reservation for a breakfast at Chef Mickey's @ 8:30am; I made it with the intention that we would be heading home (driving) afterwards. Well ... Dh and I decided to extend our trip an extra night to spend a whole day at Animal Kingdom (he doesn't want to feel rushed by driving on the same day as a park visit--definitely understandable). AK opens at 9.

Would it be advisable to keep our Chef Mickey ressie or try to book the character breakfast at AK instead? Is the quality of the entertainment and food on par, or is one better than the other, in your opinion? And how long do these breakfasts usually last?

Also, since we extended our stay by a night, we need to find another table service dinner. It has to be at one of the resorts, as we won't have park passes on that day. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Character meals aren't our thing, so I can't compare Chef Mickey's to Breakfastosaurus in terms of food or entertainment, but they're both buffets so ultimately you're in charge of how much time the actual meal takes. If I had to pick one knowing I was going to tour AK afterward, I'd certainly pick Breakfastosaurus, so that when I walk out of the meal I'm already in the park; when you get up from the table at Chef Mickey's, it might be 45 minutes or more before you're inside the turnstiles at AK.

As far as a 1-credit TS meal for that night outside the parks, there's almost 2 dozen choices, so what might you want to eat? Want a buffet (Boma is my personal favorite)? Character meal (you could do Chef Mickey's)? All you can eat + games for the kids ('Ohana, Whispering Canyon)? Steak? Seafood?

Oh, gosh, we eat everything, LOL. I'm probably the pickiest of my bunch (myself, hubby and 2 GROWING boys--they tend to eat us out of house and home), and I'm not very picky at all.

So ... You like Boma? I'll have to check into that. I know hubby loves buffets (although he tends to overdo it sometimes). I'll check out Whispering Canyon, too.

As for character meals ... I wanted to do one, for the experience. I think I'll try to go ahead and change the breakfast to the AK one; it'd probably be much more convenient.

Thanks!

My DH and i did the donald breakfast over at AK on our honeymoon in November and were very disappointed. Our ADR's were for 8:15am and did not get seated until 9:15 or 9:30am i dont quite remember but i do know that it was about a little bit more that an hour later than our 8:15am ressies. Then we get inside and the breakfast to us was horrible. The buffet food was cold and we really didn't like what they offered. Then it took forever to get our drinks and our bill we waisted like two hrs altogther w/ the having to wait like an hour for our table. We also felt very crammed where we were seated and the characters were okay but its been better at other places, such as Chef Mickeys. IMHO I would not change those ressies for AK donald breakfast. The buffet over at Chef Mickeys is a lot better and they have really good variety. The characters are awesome and the wait to be seated was not that bad maybe like 15min. once we got in everything ran smoothly and we only took like about 45min to finish our breakfast alltogether. so we definitely would go with Chef Mickeys.

As for Table Service Meals we like Kona Cafe (Poly Resort), Whispering Canyon(Wilderness Lodge, Ohana's(Poly Resort), and Narcosees over at the Grand Floridan. We haven't tried any over at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but I've heard that Boma's is really good. Hope this helps u out with your decision making process.;)

Thank you so much for your advice. I've heard about Chef Mickey's but not too much about the Donald's one at AK, that's why I was really torn. I think we'll go ahead and keep our ressies and get to AK at a leisurely pace.

I'm about to call for the ADP for the ts dinner. I'm going to shoot for Whispering Canyon (I was reading up on it, and it sounds like something we'd like) and have a couple of backups, just in case.

Sounds good to me. My DW and I were none too impressed with Donald's Breakfastasaurus. It wasn't the food (or the quality) but it just seemed like the buffet line got jammed up with people trying to get in or get to their seats. We both liked the family style buffets of Ohana and CRT over having to get up (I'd like to chalk it up to laziness but that wasn't it although my DW was several weeks pregnant at that point). We haven't done Chef Mickey's yet but that will be first on our list our DD is born and grows up a bit.

We absolutely love the Whispering Canyon. The skillet there is awesome and its all u can eat. If you want more of something on that skillet they bring it.=0) The atmosphere is really fun and the waiters and waitresses are hilarious. Just go with an open mind and an empty stomach and you'll be sure to have a great time and meal.:goodvibes
