Which character breakfast would you recommend for two little boys?

We are planning to have DS1's 2nd-birthday dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. We'd like to plan a character breakfast for a few days before this. I made PS arrangements for Chip & Dale's today; however, in reading more about this breakfast, turns out my boys aren't familiar with any of these animal characters! Do you think we should do the Princesses instead? At least they'd recognize Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Jasmine (but not Sleeping Beauty.)

I asked DS5 which he'd rather do, and he said Princesses; however, this is the same boy who says he will not have his picture with Tinkerbell "because she's for girls!" Is the Princess breakfast really girly? Do boys attend as well? The other breakfasts offered don't seem to have as many characters. Help!

I haven't been to any but have read up a lot for our upcoming trip. Everybody raves about the Lilo and Stitch breakfast, I would think any boy would want a photo with Stitch and I understand they play games with them.

The princess meal is either lunch or dinner. It used to be breakfast at the Plaza Inn at DL, but now it is at Ariels in DCA. The Plaza is Minnie and Friends. That might be a good option for you. The characters there vary. I've heard that you might see (other then Minnie of course): Pluto, Donald, Fairy Godmother, Pooh, Tigger, Hook, Peter Pan, the occasional Princess, etc. Usually 4-5 characters during your meal.

I agree with the Lilo and Stitch. Keep in mind, I am planning my own trip.. so this comes purely from reading. But the Goofys kitchen is said to be loud, very loud, and if you have a little one just turning two, Id sure check on that detail. Might scare him. My son (just turned four) would hate the princess breakfast, mainly becsue they are actual people. We've opted for Lilo and Stitch. Both 6 and 4 yr olds agree. PLUS PLUS PLUS you can order off the regular menu, not just a buffet style. You have a choice!

Having been to all three Character breakfast more than once by choices would be:

1-Lilo and Stitch (Stitch is so much fun)

2-Chip and Dale at Storytellers (not as many kids as Goofy so the characters give more time at each table)

3-Goofy's (to me the loudest with the poorest food, lots of it just not on par with the other two)

Anyway that's my take.

Boy, I wish the guidebooks I have been using had more info on the character breakfasts! (And some of them seem very out-of-date, a lot changes in just a few years!) One guidebook mentioned Minnie and Friends as just a few characters, and didn't name them, but my DS5 knows all the characters that hlbtimes2 mentions, some even DS1 would know.

DS5 loved the Lilo & Stitch movie (hasn't seen it for a year or more though, need to view that one before going), so that's definitely a possibility as well.

I wish there was a descriptive comparison of the character meals! I am less concerned about the food than that the kids have a good time, so would love more info about the performances of the characters. Some of the characters seem to do some sort of show, others are not described at all...no show? Lame show?

When we went to Storytellers in Dec, there was no "show." Dale greeted us at the door, then we had the following characters visit us at our table:

*Dale
*Meeko
*Koda
*Kenai
*Terk
*Ranger Dave (a CM dressed like a forest ranger, but very funny and friendly)

We were there for a 7 am (first) seating on a day that the park had no EE and the place was pretty deserted--maybe 10 families seated in the 40 minutes we were there. That provided a lot of time for character interaction at the tables. Since DS is named Dale, everyone made quite a fuss about Dale and Dale. Of course, it helps to be there during a slow seating period rather than the main rush hour of the meal. :coffee:

We absolutely would do Storytellers again. :thumbsup2 DS is a kid who prefers bright quiet places to loud or dark places, so Storytellers really fit the bill for us. The interaction was very personal and fun. I think Lilo & Stitch sounds fun, but it might be too much for my DS at 7 am. And Goofy's probably wouldn't be the place of choice for us at any time of day, but that's us. DS gets overwhelmed with so much action and noise. He's a quiet kid in general.

And we all thought the buffet food was EXCELLENT!

Good luck!

My boys love Goofys kitchen even the oldest my 36 year old husband !

OK, we are having our birthday dinner celebration at Goofy's Kitchen, and made a PS for Lilo & Stitch for a breakfast earlier in the week. Thanks for your helpful information on the different character meals!

Where is the Lilo & Stitch character breakfast located? I was hoping to do the character meal in one of the parks because we are staying offsite this time. :)

It's at the Paradise Pier Hotel's PCH Grill. Hawaiian theme, Hawaiian music. I initially thought it was just Lilo & Stitch that appear, but sounds like 5 or 6 characters will be there, which is great!

at goofy's kitchen...it's not that loud if you sit in the back (by the big huge window that looks out to lush greenery! really pretty!!). every 30 minutes or so, there's a singing/dancing "show" where some characters come out to the main buffet area (where the food is), and do a little dance and the kids get all into dancing/jumping/etc. i think that's the "loud" part. it's really fun!! :flower:

My boys, if they aren't too tired, would love the lively fun at Goofy's. Hopefully that will be the case on DS1's birthday dinner!

i'm sure your boys would love it. my DSs (6 & 3 at the time they went) really enjoyed it. they were jumping/dancing, and thought it was so much fun!! and the characters come up to you & spend a little time chatting w/you, and take pix, etc. and your DS1 will get a happy birthday button. have a great time!! :flower:

Thank you! Honestly, the more we hear the better it sounds - can't wait!!!

Lilo and Stitch one was great. :thumbsup2 They play a game similar to musical chairs with islands on the floor and they take the kids up to do a hawaian dance with Lilo or Stitch. It was lots of fun, my 4 boys loved it. We also saw Minnie and Pluto as well. If you're going for a birthday mention it on your PS's as they brought my 1 YO out a cupcake and sang to him. He loved Goofy trying to blow out the candle. :rotfl: They play a lot with the little ones or at least did when we were there. Have fun.

does anyone have the diding reservation number..
I think we have chosen to do Lilo and Stitchwhen we go. Best menu prices. As we have a 4 year old who doesn't eat... So best value for us.. Thanks for all the great reviews!!
