We thought for our last day before we drive home it would be fun to have breakfast at a character meal since we haven't done one in awhile and it would be a fun last thing to do. My question is our passes are blocked on that last day so will they let you in the park to eat? We were thinking about Minnie's but wasn't sure if you could do that. I know I have heard at DW that you could get in to the parks just to eat and then had to leave but wasn't sure if you could do that at DL.

Would LOVE to know the answer to this otherwise I think we will have to do Goofy's or Mickey's.

Thanks!! :)

You do need a pass to get into the park to eat, so Minnie's is out :sad2: I like Goofy's a bit better than Mickey's personally.

Unfortunately you would need admission for the day in order to dine at the Minnie & Friends breakfast.

As for the other options, between Mickey's Surfs Up and Goofy's Kitchen my preference would be GK, although that's the only one I have actually done between the two, but I loved it both times I dined there. But I think it depends a lot on the characters you want to see. MSU will have Mickey Mouse, Stitch and the like since it's kind of a luau theme (it is also the only place you will find Daisy Duck) and GK will have a mixture of some classic characters and maybe a Princess or two with some others. I've seen a wide variety there especially my long-saught-after spotting of Honest John.

I've also heard that plenty of people really enjoyed Storyteller's if you have't crossed that off entirely as a possibility.

Thanks guys that is kind of what I was afraid of. I have never done Minnie's and wanted to try it but we are those commando types esp in high season like June so when the parks open we don't want to waste time eating breakfast in the parks but like to use those early morning hours to go on as many rides and collect as many fp's as possible before it gets too crowded. Maybe I will do minnie's on the next ladies trip I go on when I am not as worried about it LOL.

Anyway I personally prefer goofy's also. I like all the wide varieties of food and I actually really like them for dinner. We had Shelby's birthday there and I enjoyed it but I asked the group and they want Mickeys so I guess Mickeys it is! :)

I don't mind that place. We did it when it was Lilo and Stitch so it will be fun either way.

And Jess I have done Storytellers on the ladies trip but although the food was good they don't have many characters so to me to pay that much I would rather go somewhere that had a bit more character interaction. But thanks for the tip!! :)

Thanks again guys!! :)

Kelly we did Goofys, Mickeys & Storytellers. We liked all of them. Goofy's has always been a family favorite, but were a tad disappointed this last time....the characters seemed almost bothered to stop at our table.....but that can happen from time to time. The buffet is always to die for!

Mickey's is always a lot of fun......they dance, learn to surf, hoola hoop & a ton of character interaction. Since this is a smaller restaurant, the characters come by a few times during an hour+ meal. The buffet has some different choices than found anywhere else.....some work, some not as much. But have chosen to repeat this meal when we go in March!

Storytellers the food was very good!! We also enjoyed seeing different characters that we'd never seen before! (Meeko, Kenai) I ordered off menu & it was very good!

So I don't think you really can go wrong.....all great choices....might come down to who you're hoping to see!!

Here's somehting that might help you with a decision to go to M&F -- I don;t know if you'll be staying on-site and therefore being able to use every MM available but if there was a day that MM is available but you can't use it, those are great days to do M&F. You can get your early breakfast time at the same time MM starts even if you don't have MM access and then be done with your meal around the time the park actually open with no real time lost. Heck ... when we did this we actually gained 15 minutes of MM time :rotfl:

I wouldn't do goofy's now that it's in the ballroom, personally.

We did Surf's Up at PCH Grill an dit was fantastic! TONS Of character interaction (they played hula hoops with the kids). My boys loved the surfing and dance lessons. And the characters were really good at getting my 18mo to warm up to them. She went from screaming in terror when she saw them to running up and hugging Minnie in about 90 minutes! The food was good too, and our server was really on the ball.

Yeah Jess we are staying at the Fairfield so no MM for us :( but that is a good idea. I never thought about that. I might have to add an extra one in there so we can try Minnies!! ;)

And Dahlia we are actually going in June do you think Goofy's will still be down by then? And also I had planned to eat at Steakhouse 55 do you know what the status of that one is?

Yeah, GK should be back where it belongs at the end of this month, so definitely not an issue.

As for the M&F on a MM thing, I never even thought you could do it without MM access until I asked around here and then gave it a shot myself. It worked out perfectly. I forget exactly what time our ressie was for, I think like 8:10 when the park didn't actually open until 9. It worked out perfectly.

Thanks Laurie for the info. I have actually eaten at all of them except Ariel's (for breakfast, have done the lunch/dinner several times) and Minnies. While I liked the food at all of them I think Storytellers was my least fav. The characters were ok we just had more fun with the ones at PP and the kids want to go back there so what are you gonna do LOL.

They are actually not as into characters honestly as they used to be I just thought it might be fun something different. And one last Disney thing to do before we head back home :(

Oh and Laurie I am REALLY excited about maybe going to WA/OR. It is still in the way talking stages but I don't know if you saw my post on FB but we want to go up the middle on our way up and come down the coast so hopefully we might make it somewhere near you on the way home so we could maybe meet for lunch or dinner depending on when we are near you!! :)

Ah yes, missed the June part, LOL! GK will be done by then. I think Steakhouse55 is open now, but not sure.

What time is the 1st seating for breakfast?
thanks Jill

Depends on which meal you are talking about. I have done GK at 7a for the first seating, and every time I do M&F it is always for their first seating available which I believe is 20 minutes before opening on a non-MM day, and then 10 minutes after MM started on a MM day if I can remember correctly. I forget what time we did AG, but it was just before DCA opened as well.

I know I have heard at DW that you could get in to the parks just to eat and then had to leave but wasn't sure if you could do that at DL.

FWIW you can't do it at WDW, either.

Did the girls like Hogsmeade? :)
