What is the best type of pen to use? I know some of the characters have big clumsy hands?

Thanks

Although I don't get character autographs, although having Eeyores would be the coolest ever, I've seen some young ones using those short and fat type pins that often have the rubbery fuzzy thing on top? I heard they're easier for the characters with those big padded "paws" to sign. I've seen them sold at the parks, often with the autograph books.

We use Sharpies...the characters seem to be able to hold onto them pretty well. I've seen lots of other people using those as well.

Some people use Sharpies, we always just use a regular pin. A few times, I have picked up novelty pins with Disney characters or toys on them and the characters always seem to make a big deal to my kids about how fun the pins are. :thumbsup2

I've heard that sharpies are not allowed in the parks. But I've never heard that they were taken from a guest getting a signature.

When I think about the charaters I've met with recently I think only Sully had a big hand that would make it hard to grip a pen with. I know the big five while, having large hands, the gloves clearly allow them to grip if you shake their hands.

I have never heard that about Sharpies. We have an extra large Sharpie (the thing is huge) that the characters always make a big deal out of. It's pretty funny.

Sully doesn't sign. He is afraid of pens (that's what we have been told). :goodvibes Koda and Kenai don't sign either.

The last time I went, which was the first time for DD, we used a colored Sharpie. We have the characters sign in the Disney's Jr Encyclopedia of Animated Characters. I plan on using a different colored sharpie for each visit. That way we can know which characters we saw on which date. I also had DD write her name in the book using that color. It'll be neat to see her signature change through the years.

In any case, for the fuzzy characters, I would uncap the pen for them and hold it out for them by the cap so they could just take the pen and sign.

I suppose I could switch over to a crayola washable marker. I just have to make sure it won't smear in our book.

The interesting side note is that when we saw Silvermist at Pixie Hollow, she wanted a blue colored pen, lol! Unfortunately she had to use our only writing instrument - a pink sharpie.

Oh I love that idea! We used that book for the first time on our last trip (after accumulating way too many standard autograph books!). I will have to remember to use a different color next trip.

We always use Sharpies, I gennerally buy the colored ones and we all use a different color because yes I like to get em also!!! :)

If it is the princesses, you might want a regular pen or fine felt tip. You might have noticed a little more elaborate signature with the regular pens where a sharpie would start to get messy with all the lines. However, some items you may want signed just look better with a sharpie (books IMO). You could always do both:)

We just use the pens provided with the autograph books sold right there at Disneyland. No character has ever complained.

Would be funny if Sharpies weren't allowed in the parks...after all, they are the *sponsor* of a kidcot station over at WDW...:goodvibes I know there are differences in DLR and WDW, but that would be a biggie! :upsidedow

After years of getting autographs I don't think
we ever had a sharpie for a character to use. Until last summer we had a sharpie for Minnie to sign at the plaza. She kept shaking her hands and her head. We had to find another pen she wouldn't use the sharpie at all. Lol We just figured it would ruin the costume and must of been a rule. :confused3 we havnt tried since.

We just used a regular hotel pen - lol
We got about 20 autographs - including Eyore :D
I loved how clever the characters were - turning the autograph book around so that it was right side up when the boys messed up and handed it over wrong. So sweet!

Captain Hook won't sign with a Tinkerbell pen...but Princesses are fine! ;)

It's not so much that they're banned. It's just that Disney Parks doesn't sell them anywhere at the Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort.

A similar situation exists with regards to chewing and bubble gum.
