What is the best item for a character to sign for you (besides the normal WDW character book)? I was thinking of taking a shirt down with me, but have had second thoughts. I thought I read somewhere on the boards that a DISer used cards and put them in a photo album opposite of the photo with the character. This seems like a good idea and easier for the character to sign. What kind of cards should I get? Anyone else have some ideas?

you could get post cards. Or even scrap book pages so that you have there autograph and there pictures next to one another when you make a scrap book. :)

My girls (age 11) bought a hat and had the characters sign it during our trip at the end of October. It is a fun souvenier for them. They've done the autograph books in the past, but this was nice because they wore it instead of having to carry it!

Well, I would tell you to bring a t-shirt and get it signed, but only if you don't wash it (like I did! :guilty: ) Sharpies are NOT permanent when you want them to be! If you do take a t-shirt, get an embroidery hoop so the material is taut enough to sign and actually the medium blue sharpie did not fade, but definitely don't try the hot pink!

I like PPFQP's idea for a hat...which type of hat did you use that had the most room?

I'm also thinking next time of maybe taking a photo mat or two and getting signatures on those, esp. face characters, who can sign smaller. Hmmm, now you've got me thinking...

We did use some blank 3x5 cards for some autographs and it was hard for a lot of the characters to hold them if they have big paws, wings, or hands on their costumes. Those days were easier on us, though, b/c we didn't have to carry the autograph/photo album around.

Here's a picture. It's not the best picture of them, but it gives a good view of the hats. We took this while climbing the Swiss Family Treehouse. (Can you say tired feet??) We bought the purple one (left) at the The Chapeau on Main Street and the brown/blue one (right) at Mouse Gears in Epcot. The characters signed the brim. FWIW, this was a quick trip and we didn't do a lot of character hunting, so they only had a few autographs each. I don't think this is the best option if you're looking to get lots of autographs.

I have heard of people also having white bucket hats signed ..and fabric pens were recommended.

Also on the Creative DISigns board there are several autograph/scrapbooking suggestions. If I remember correctly, one was to have 6X6 scrap book pages signed and then photos could be mounted either on that page or inserted into the scrapbook on the opposite page. I guess any size could be used but 6x6 was big enough for characters and easy enough to carry around -- clipped and stored in a ziplock.

We went to target and got a book that has 5X7 cards in it. Features:
- hard cover (makes signing easier)
- has a "swivel" open in one corner
- pages are perforated
- pages are thick (no sharpie bleed through)
- has an elastic loop to hold it shut (like an attached rubberband)
- has about 100 pages, we used about 30

We put that book and a big sharpie in a ziplock baggie beneath the stroller. Perfect!

We bought multiple colors of heavy craft paper and cut them into the shape of mickey heads. Punched holes down one side and then used plastic thread to hold them together. The DD felt special and a lot of the characters singled her out because of the special book. :thumbsup2

By the way, the signed mickey heads look good in the scrapbook. Please note the pictue in my signature, the entire high council of the Jedi stopped and signed the mickey heads. :woohoo:

When we went in October 2004 we had the characters sign sweatshirts. We used different colored fabric pens and put the shirts on a clipboard. It worked great and we got a lot of autographs. They shirts washed just fine and are still worn on occasion. We might do t-shirts on our next trip in Jan.

Can you get autographs from all the characters you see? I realize the big ones you can get most anywhere, but what about ones that may appear only in parades and fantasmic?Maleficent and the Toy Story army men, people like that. Anyone know?

My DD got the green army men at MGM.

party: :jumping1: :rainbow: :jumping2: :tigger: :ccat: :maleficen :sulley: :simba: :dumbo: My suggestion is to bring a visor or hat. So when at the park, they can wear it but also have characters sign it. If you dont know what color to buy.... buy a Disney color....red white blue orange yellow........along the lines of the characters.

A Mickey baseball hat is a neat way to go.
In true UberGeek fashion,I had a pic with me and Lilo and Stitch signed by the girl that does the voice of Lilo and a screen cap from the movie and then had Stitch sign it.Unfortunately the day I was at AK was a weekday and Lilo was at school,so unable to sign it.
At least I have another reason to go back....not like I really need 1 !! ;)

This sounds like what I was looking for. I'm looking for something that will be easy to carry, but something I can use to scan the signatures in to my computer, then place them on the picture I have taken with the character. This way it will look like the character signed the picture!

Which section of Target was this in? Is this like a notebook or more like a scrapbook?
