Character autograph question

I don't want to buy an autograph book, because I want to use the autographs in our trip scrapbook. Can I just cut cardstock in different colors and use that? What size? Do any of the characters have HUGE signatures? I'm thinking of Buzz and any similar that use a stamp vs a pen.....

Hi,

I would still buy the autograph books. Try this. Last year I purchased 5X7 acid free spiral albums from Michaels. I cut pieces of cardstock to match the characters costumes with a reasonable size for the characters to sign and put them into the 5X7. Sometimes I double matted to add more color. The characters automatically signed on the cardstock and enjoyed signing their 'special' page. When I got home I just had (have) to cut the autograghs out and put into my scrapbook (...still working on...a year later). Worked out great!!

BTW, I made 3 books. 1 for each of my kids and 1 for me for the Disney scrapbook.


We will also be there in Sept. Have a great time!!

Whatever you do, make sure that it isn't too small. With the gloves over their hands, it's very difficult to handle small things. I wouldn't have anything smaller than 4x6 and that might even be too small.

I love Shelby's idea to make a special book ahead of time.

We used a Disney autograph book and then mounted each autograph on card stock to isolate it from photos on each layout.

Another good tip I learned from someone is to take a fatter type of pen. They are easier for the characters to hold if they have on gloves.

All of these are great ideas but what do you do if you have
signatures of 2 characters on teh same page?! Noticed in one of the girl's autograph books that Capt Hook signed on the back of Peter Pan!! DD gave Peter Pan the book on the right pg and then handed it to Capt Hook who just flipped it over w/o looking!
I thought about coping one of the signatures and mounting it on cardstock -- then we'll have a copy and an original. 0inions or suggestions on this idea?
Another problem--DD8 didn't remember to put her album in the water tight container on Kali River Rapids and her album got soaking wet!! Now some of the autographs have bled due to using Magic Markers and some have copied onto the next page!

My daughter always uses the autograph books you buy in the parks. I cut peices of vellum to the same size as the pages in the book. Then I trace the autographs onto the vellum. This way I can still have autographs in my scrapbook but my DD's autograph book stays in one peice. Also I don't have to worry if they sign on the same page.

ACtually I have found that the Princess signatures are the largest. On our last trip Cinderella did a large swirling (think Cinderella's Coach) signature in blue crayon in my children's books. The stamped signatures of Buzz and Woody are actually rather small (like maybe no more than 2" x 2").............P

Have you thought about using a computer scanner and picture making program to clean up the signatures. When we go to WDW, I know I'll want to keep the Kids' autograph books in tact, but I'll also want to have signatures in the scrapbook. That's what I plan on doing. I have a bad habit of wanting my cake and eating it too. LOL

I make a photocopy (on acid free paper) of the sigs from the autograph book. Then, I mount them on colorful cardstock to coordinate with my page layout. Kids get to keep the autograph book and I get to add the sigs to my scrapbooks.
