We requested early seating and got it. We are now thinking about changing to late seating. How hard is it to change ? Our children are 9 and 11. What time does late seating start ? It would be nice to have th extra time in St Maarten since the ship leaves ther fairly late.

Any thoughts

We always request late seating...we love it. It starts at 8:30 pm which is great. The shows for late seating start at 6:30 pm so you have that extra half hour to hang by the pool or relax in your cabin. Then you also have about an hour between the show and when dinner starts. There are a lot of little "game show" type things going on during that hour so check out the Navigator.

When we sailed this past January we needed to switch 10 people to late seating. We went to the dining changes table (time and place will be listed in the Navigator on the first day) and had no problem!!!

And I'm trying to get early seating!!!! Wish we were going on the same cruise, we could swap! We're going 7/20 on the 4 night to Bahamas. Anyone else going on either of our cruises that want to swap with us?!

MagicMouseketeers,
We are going on the same cruise and we could not get main dining. We are waitlisted for it. Would be nice if we could switch!
By the way, it is much easier to switch from main to late, than the other way around. We have done both seatings before and although I prefer late dining, my husband's health condition makes it difficult to eat too late.
Our kids were 10 & 8 when we did the late dining and they were fine. (They are now 14 & 12)
Remember that the show would now be before dinner on the main seating.
Let me know if you want to swap. We both have parties of 4. Should be no problem.

Hello! We just did a late seating for just the reason you've specified, so we'd have more time before dinner. Now, I would caution you- seating begins at 8:30. You'll probaly get to the main course somewhere around 9:15 or so, and we never left any earlier than 9:30, usually more towards 10:00. It is really a late dinner.

My seeing you're in the same timezone as us, add an hour in your head to to the above times, the ship's on eastern too, depending on how fast you can acclimate from central.

Now I would say having the extra time in the early part of the evening was very cool. For me and DW, it didn't outwiegh the lateness of the meal aand we'll be back on early seating for the upcoming one. However if eating that late is no issue, go for it.

The impression I got from our last cruise in March is that it's much easier to change from early to late than the other way around.

In fact, you could probably announce your intention to change to the line of people in the terminal and sell your early seating in an eBay style auction - might even be able to pay for a game of Bingo or 2.

We've done both seating times, and while late is kindof late, since we usually dine between 7 and 8pm it wasn't a major issue for us (in fact I think the kids actually liked it better). If we got hungry in the early evening, there were lots and lots of snack options.

I talked to DW last night and we are going to stay with early seating. We're not a family that takes a long time to get ready for dinner, so we don't need the extra prep time. If it were just DW and me we would probably switch to late. I don't want DD falling asleep in her desert.

MagicMouseketeers-

Glad to see you have the same seating as we do. My DS is so excited about meeting your DS in July. When I saw you were thinking about switching - I thought "oh, no if my DS really gets along well with your DS than he is not going to want to go to dinner with us. He would want to wait until the late seating also".

See Ya Soon!
