Hi Everyone, back from the World!!!!!!!! Had a great time and even managed to bring back some dollar Travellers checks, as there is quite a lot would I be better changing them in the Travel Agents or paying them in to the bank!!!
I believe either way I will lose money but which is the better option.

Hi Lynda

Just wanted to say Welcome home:)

Sorry I didnt have any TC's to change back...;) so cant help you

Thanks for the welcome home,

How was your trip home, I thought about you during the storms we had those last couple of days and was hoping you missed the lightening storms on your flight!!!!

Hi Lynda

Just like when you were buying them you have to shop around for the best "buy-back rate" only this time you are looking for the lowest rate going (obviously)... most places do not charge for encashing t/cheques as this is where they make their money!!!

Unless of course you are planning your next trip already, and assuming you can afford to, of course, you might want to just hand onto them...just think of what you could spend those extra $$$ on in WDW than going into your TA or Bank's coffers...just a thought

Hi Lynda

Thanks for the thoughts...:) Luckily we missed the storms, we flew home on the Thursday 1st May at 7:30pm. The skies were clear.
The weather was forecast hot for the weekend when we left, hope you enjoyed it.

We never change back TC's, keep them until next time, they last forever.

Bringing back money from Holiday :o , now there's a novel idea. I can't see it catching on LOL. Anything up to $300-400 I think I'd keep and use up next trip if you have one planned within 12 months. Anything more it rather depends on what you'd do with the money ( deposit accounts are earning such low interest that it may still be more economical just to hold on to the $$$s ), your thoughts on the exchange rate also come into mind. If you'd use the money to pay off an outstanding credit card bill ( with interest rates 15% or above then IMHO you're better off changing it back to £ and paying those bills.

Pay off the credit card!!! mmm good idea, I actually took far too much in TC and came back with $2,700

We had this problem 2 years ago. I was so upset to find the TCs which cost nearly £1000 were only worth £900 when I changed them back. "Commission Free" sounds good but in reality you lose about 10% on any you change back. Good Luck on finding a solution, let us know if you find a painless way to deal with it. This time I'm taking a few TCs but will rely on the credit cards.

This is one of the reasons why we use credit cards - you only exchange UK Pounds for US Dollars for the exact amount you spend. Any time you change money from one currency to another it costs you, and if you then change that money back unspent it costs you twice!
