Changing rooms at check-in

Bill that just sounds like fairly normal tourism/recreational jobs. I worked in that industry for years out of college and we all could have had the same complaints. But it's the nature of the beast. For example the person who is like "two different people" - each department has their own areas they need to staff and almost never fall under the same manager so then not the same schedule. So the business could hire two completely different people or they can each hire the same person and hopefully make the schedules works. There's an ebb and flow that happens that is beyond the managements control - it's all us darn visitors. What you list just aren't examples that Disney is such a horrible employer nor that the behind the scenes at Disney is much or any different than other places that fall in their same category.

True Disney probably isn't much worse than other companies in the same business but Disney seems to push the envelope a bit more.

The important take away here is that working for Disney can take away any magic that you had for the place.

Google maps has done a good job taking away the material magic for me. Fortunately, the real magic is in the people themselves. ;)

That said, I've heard nasty things about Disney's IT department, the political games going on there and layoffs in which the folk need to train their overseas counterparts. While in my old age I may chose to don a mickey hand, wave to guests, or man a cash register for the mouse, I'll never apply to work as a FT office employee.

Just think how the imagineer's felt when they were told that the magic band project was outsourced. One of the issues was that the imagineer's felt that the mb readers should be themed to the location or park, they lost because having the same reader everywhere was cheaper.
