I am guessing "yes" but asking since we are DVC members as of last Sept.

Thinking that we will be fine in a 1 BR villa at AKL rather than 2 BR. If we change our reservations, the point difference will go into holding and have to be used by April 1st of 2014... correct?

They will go into holding if you are less than 30 days from your reservation date. Other wise they will just go back into your account

Oooooh this is very good news... we are way out of that range and can really roll them over and hope to get in HH next year... :cool1:

Holding is only is you cancel a reservation 30 days or sooner to your reservation date. You can cancel anytime 31 days or more in advance of your reservation and points go back to your current use year. If you borrowed points to make the reservation, they can be put back to the year they were borrowed from. If you cancel a after your banking window, you will have to the end of your use year to use the points.

Really? I though banking and borrowing are irreversible. They run on separate policies from the reservation policies. So those borrowed points will be stuck in the use year before, effectively give you a one year less of 'shelf life'.

Banking and borrowing are final transactions, once moved they can not be put back.
