Changing room only to package, payment ?'s

I have a room only reservation that is not paid off. I would like to change it to a package with dining. However, I am under the 45 day window. Can I change it over and mail payment or must I charge it since I am under the 45 day window?

I believe it needs to be paid in full at time of change.

Tonight I called and asked the same thing except I am going in a week. They told me that you can send a overnight personal check to them but if it is less than 2 weeks like it is for me, I would have to use a cashiers check and give them the numbers from it when I make the reservation. The only problem that I see is that my resort is totally booked and I am a little concerned because they have to cancell you room only reservation to book a package. I would worry about losing my room. They said that the mangager could do some magic for me but they weren't sure.

I was in this predicament last week myself. I wanted to convert my room only ressie to a package but because my dog was sick I wasn't absolutely sure we were going so didn't want to pay in full. I called the CRO and a nice CM said I didn't have to cancel my room only ressie, that I could call as late as the morning of check in to "extend" it at no penalty to me. Two days before we left I converted to a package without cancelling via AAA and paid with a credit card. The only problem we had was the package from AAA arrived late in our stay but it really didn't impact us much. I had gotten the confirmation sheet from our AAA office and presented it on our arrival. So don't cancel, you risk losing your space at your resort of choice!

Because you are going from room only to a package (with dining) they are in two different systems. CRO will have to refund you your deposit on your room only reservation and you will have to make payment in full on your package (since you are under 45 days.) Most CMs will ask for payment at the time of booking, however if you can get guest services to hold it they will give you 24 hours to get a check in to them (which means overnighting it.) I would suggest using a Credit Card and then mailing a check to your credit card company to cover the cost if you don't want to charge it (either that or use a visa/mc debit card.)
