Changing ressie not cancelling...Help!

DW and I currently have ressies for Wed Dec 26th - Sat Jan 5th at SSR. We want to change our arrival to Sat Dec 29th. Will MS have to cancel our current ressie and make a new one (if so I'm worried I'll lose ressies altogether as it is Christmas season) or can they simply make a change to the arrival date of our existing ressie?

All they will do is cancel the nights you do not need and put your points into whichever category they will fall into - regular year, borrowed etc. If you borrowed some points for this reservation and used some current year points make sure you ask to have the current UY ones returned so you can use them or bank them if you are within your banking deadlines.

Fortunately, the nights you no longer want are at the beginning of your reservation. As castleri said, MS can just cancel those and leave the rest. Tht could not be done if you didn't want the nights in the middle.

Also, I would be surprised if all the availablility for those dates (even though it's Christmas week) is already gone, so you should be fine anyway. Call MS and get it changed as soon as you can to put your mind at ease.

Thanks castleri and CarolMN. Can always count on the friendly DISers to help out quickly! We used banked 06 and current 07 points so I'll make sure they return the 07 pts and use the banked pts. Also, good point about cancelling nights at the beginning vs the middle of the ressie! Making all these changes so we can go at Christmas/New Years and add a second trip for July 08. Many DISers did warn us that DVC appears cheaper than cash ressies until you start taking multiple trips per year because of DVC Better to burn out than to fade away
