Anyone know how this would work if we plan to visit a park the same day we need to check out?

eg. Check out of Saratoga on the 9th but we also have a stay from the 9th - 12th at the Polynesian.

Would we need to check out extra early and head to Polynesian and leave our bags at the front desk then check in/pick up bags after we're done with our day at the park?

The way we do a split stay is give bags to bell services in the morning for a resort transfer. Check out and go enjoy the day. When next room is ready and decide to arrive, check with bell services for your transferred bags.

Move steps:
Have your items packed and ready for pickup.
On move day call Bell Services to come and pickup your items or take them to the stand.
Tell Bell Services which items are to be keep cold, if any.
Go check-in to new resort, the room may of been vacant overnight, and do whatever you have planned for the day.
When the room is ready and after @ 2-4 go to the room.
Call Bell Services of the check-in resort and they will deliver your items to the room.
You MUST be in the room for both the pickup and delivery. Tips expected.

You can take your bags yourself especially if you are going to MK or Epcot that day. That way you can just park at Poly and hop on the monorail. If you aren't going to MK or Epcot, then leave your bags with bell services at SSR to have them transferred to Poly for you. You will need to be in your room to have them delivered to your room or you can pick them up yourselves to take to your room.

Edit: if you have any refrigerated items, BS cannot transfer them for you. You will need to either have BS hold them at SSR or take the food to Poly yourself.

I prefer to have my bags waiting for me at my second hotel, so we typically take a ride share to hotel #2, leave our bags with Bell Services at hotel #2, and go about our day. That way, our bags are ready for us as soon as our room is ready at hotel #2. If you have Bell Services at hotel #1 transfer them to hotel #2, they might not arrive until late afternoon or evening.
