Changing resort in the middle of stay?

I need some advice...I'm a new DVC member at SSR. I booked my vacation last week with the intention of staying 11 nights at SSR. Now, I may have to alter my plans to include and extra Friday night instead of one weekday night :sad2:. Now I'm short about 25 points and hate to borrow more from 2007 (I already borrowed 30 points). I figured if I stay at Old Key West for the first 6 nights and SSR the remaining 5 nights I only have to borrow one more point from 2007. I'm not so sure about switiching resorts in the middle of my stay, though. Is it a big deal to check-out and then check-in a new resort on the same day? Will the cast members move my luggage to my new room if everything is pre-arranged?

5/06 finally a DVC member  trying to decide where to stay!!!! HELP!!! :confused3  :scratchin

No not a hassle at all, we do this quite often. Yes the cm's will move your luggage (or if you have a car you can do it yourself just as easy if not easier)

This is how we do it and to date have never had a problem.

Check out of resort #1, and immediately head for resort #2 to check in (we have always been able to check in right away at okw when we've done this-just lucky). When we check out of resort #1 when we call for bell services we let them know we would like luggage moved to such and such a resort, when bell services come for luggage they have us sign a form and off goes the bags. When we check into resort #2 we let them know our luggage is coming from such in such place. Then off to the parks we go. When we return there usually is a message letting us know that our luggage has arrive, we call bell services and they deliver our stuff. Just keep in mind that it can take up until 3pm or 4pm for your luggage to arrive at the new resort.

When we have a car we check out of resort #1, immediately head over to resort #2 to check in (if room is ready thats great, if not we just keep checking back and just move our own luggage.) Remember you park free at the parks with your resort winshield parking ticket.

Have you thought of staying at one of the hotels for the weekend nite in order to save points.

We usually arrive on Friday morning and stay two nites (Friday & Saturday)at one of the resorts (if you have an annual pass its a great way to checkout some of the resorts you, at least us, would not normally spend the money on - like the Animal Kingdom). Staying at a resort for two nites helps us extend our vacation without using all our points in one trip.

You might actually really enjoy changing resorts, it would be like starting a whole new vacation.

That's what I was just thinking! Since you are staying for a long time, I think it will be fun to do that. We just came back from a 2/2 night stay, and I didn't like that at all. We were trying to save points and were at Pop for 2 nights, but it just didn't feel like a real vacation. Never again, we'll borrow the point, weekend and all, and stay DVC.

rwc :teeth:

We switched this summer between WL and BC with no problems at all. It was so easy! We gave our luggage to bell services at WL and asked them to send them to BC. Our bags arrived around 3 pm--piece of cake! We really liked the split stay because you get to experience two entirely different resorts. This summer we're staying at AK for the first 3 nights and then BWV for the last 6. It helps with those weekend points too. :thumbsup2

No problem except for packing and unpacking. I enjoy staying at different places. Have a great vacation.

We have four daughters who generate an amazing amount of clutter. I'd rather cut my right arm off than pack to move in the middle of a vacation. It takes an hour to tidy the place up before the maid comes in....packing is about a four hour ordeal. YUCK

What about food? We are staying in a 1BR then 2BR then back to 1BR for Christmas. What will happen if we need to move instead of just having the door unlocked?

I love moving...I don't bring a lot, so packing is a big deal for me. Last year we did a 10 day trip and switched on day 5 it was great. This year we are switching on day 4. :thumbsup2 I have always had bell services move me, but some people say it is easier for you to do it(if you have a car)...
