Changing resort and keeping discount?

I was looking into changing resorts today. Right now we are booked for the free dining discount in August.

When I go to MDE and click "change resort" it shows me availability at another resort keeping the discount. However, when I click through to next it says that it is not available.

Do you think that this is a website glitch? I know that the discount is subject to availability-I get that. But it shows me 2 resorts where it is available to switch over to, and others that are out of availability so it seems as though at least it "thinks" that there is availability....

Any thoughts?

I do not think you can change your resort and keep the discount after the offer has expired. I believe the free dining offer has already expired.

Yes, it has expired. Just strange that it gives me that option on the first page and then times out as soon as I try to click through.

Call. This is something that has to be done via guest services. You can try and change resorts and keep the discount, but there has to still be availability in the promotion to switch you (which there still can be, even though the promotion has technically expired). The only way you will know for sure is to call and talk to a CM, who will then need to contact guest services to do it.

Great minds think alike lol. On hold right now. The CM who answered saw what I did as far as it showing availability to switch but not letting him do it. He is contacting guest services now.

Yep, GS is the only one that can do it after the offer has expired.
That's why you can see it on the availability but then when you try to do it the website won't let you
Seeing it as available is a glitch, sort of.
It is available IF the offer was still active. Big IF on purpose.
Since it's not, when you try to actually make the switch, it won't go through.
But, GS can make the exceptions, if they feel like, the stars align, or whatever it is that works in your favor for them to do it. This is one of those cases where they don't HAVE to do it but sometimes will. It's up to the goodwill of whoever you speak to.

Switched from POR to CBR. I know some people don't love CBR but we do, and as a family of 5 that can't afford deluxe our options are limited! We are excited to go to CBR again with the gondolas open and to see the new changes to the main building!

Excellent choice.

Excellent choice.

I felt like I "should" try something different this time, but just couldn't get super excited about POR. We have visited and it is lovely, but I just love the feel of CBR! Last time we went it was major under construction (main building closed) so I think this will "Feel" like a new experience. Or maybe I'm just trying to justify staying at the same place again because I'm a creature of habit lol. What makes you say excellent choice...what do you like better about CBR?

Now I'm a little bummed because I thought the construction would be done and the gondolas running and I was wrong. Blah.

We were fans of POR before having to switch to CBR for Free Dining and we haven't been able to go back. And this was before the recent upgrades which makes the difference even more. We like the theme, pool, food court, layout and overall feel of CBR. I think you're going to enjoy the changes.

The rooms at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort are slightly larger than all the other moderate resorts. Your room should be 340 square feet compared to 314 for the other moderates. Every extra square foot helps when you have multiple occupants!

Really? I have never heard this. Now I'm lamenting not booking free dining there this summer. I was under the impression all mods were about the same size.

Yup. CBR was the first Moderate built before there was a Moderate category. They wanted to build a less expensive option to Poly, CR, GF, etc without skimping on room size.

The rooms at all the other Moderates are the same size as each other.

Yep, we have changed and always got the same discount...CALL it works!
Alot of perks are there for the taking...you just have to ask.

I tried that 2 years ago...with no luck...then tried to add an extra day at original resort....and really had to work for it! Can only call and try....good luck!

Originally booked CBR in the tower for July with free dining. I called once per week for about 6 weeks and was finally able to switch to the Polynesian and keep my free dining.

Be sure to have some time when you call...I usually spent 45-60 minutes on the phone waiting for Reservations to talk with Guest Services about availability.
