Has anyone every checked into a resort and didn't like it, and then changed the resort after check in? Maybe especially after checking in a value and going to a moderate instead, or a moderate and going to a deluxe resort instead. Do you pay the rack difference and how does you luggage get handled? Do they transfer it for you? Thanks for your reply. Anyone has any experiences to share

I was at the Polly and moved to the gf( I had a problem with a mold smell)they gave me the same rate and offered to move my bags.I didn't take them up on the bags part only because I didn't want any time without my bags. This is not a bash on the polly.....just a personel situation.

We checked into the Beach Club, lasted 20 minutes before the stench of cigarettes could not be removed from the carpet with spray. My pregnant wife was ill from what was supposed to be a non smoking room. We stayed at Contemporary instead. Much better!!!

Years ago we arrived a night early and stayed at what is now Riverside. We had res for Carribean Beach for the rest of the stay. When my parents arrived the next night and went to CB, their room was dumpy. Some things were broken and it just wasn't as nice, I recall it looked WORN. I called and they moved the lot of us to two rooms at Riverside. We had a nice stay there and have been back repeatedly.

In defense of Carribean Beach, I think our stay was right before a major rehab. We stayed there for a few nights this March and the room and all of the resort was lovely.

Did you guys go to guest services? What do you mean by call? Did you have to call CRO? How does that work? Right now I will be staying at POR, but we really want to change resorts, but there is no avaiability. So do you think once we get there and we really dislike we could change and get charged the differnce on the room rates and still keep our dining plan. I mean its not like we are getting the room at discount rates, just getting the dinning plan right? Thanks for all your reply!

Lalita, I am sorry I am fuzzy on the details because it has been 11 years ago this happened. Surely Guest Services is a place to start... I think you should call once or twice during the week prior to your visit. Remember that some rooms have the "5 days out cancellation" policy and it seems a room might open up right before your departure. Once arriving in Orlando you could always ask for help at check-in or at Guest Services. People move all the time for various reasons -- there might be dissatisfaction with a room and the resort is all booked, or I have heard of people moving because there are only smoking rooms available and they want non-smoking, etc. If you have no luck, I would try calling directly to the front desk of the resort to which you'd like to move. They might know a room is available.

For what it is worth, Riverside is a beautiful resort. The flowers are so pretty and in the years since it opened the greenery has grown up so beautifully. You may love it! But if you have your heart set on somewhere else, they will do all they can to help you out.

You don't have to have any problem with the room. You can go back to the front desk and tell them that you don't want it. They should refund your money, unless you booked it through expedia or travelocity or anyone that have penalty. Have to read those rules when not booked through Disney.

I never done this before, but I checked in POP and suppose to stay there for 4 nights. I only stayed there for one night. Before I cancelled my stay at POP, I first called WL to make sure there is a room there for me. I even was able to get AAA discount.

So before you leave your resort, call CRO too make sure there is a room available at the resort you want to stay and then talk to the CM at the front desk where you are currently staying.

They will transfer the bags for you.

Last year, we checked into WL after a 3 nite stay at Contemp. After about an hour,we decided it just wasn't our style so we went back to the front desk and explained this to them. They gladly called POR at our request, secured us aroom, tranfered our money to them and even supplied us transportation to the resort.

If you have the FREE dining plan, I would dbl check before switching that you can keep the free dining plan. Hate to lose a perk like that!

if they are at high capacity (which they seem to be since they are currently not available), you will probably be charge either rack rate or AAA if you have it. If they have a room available from a cancellation they will likely move you if you ask.

I would hesitate to assume they will do this. Unless, of course, there are real problems, in special package situations.

For instance, then, say ... They offer the YNP special. Only a certain amt of rooms at each resort. The public's fave, say for example CSR, sells out of the special YMP codes first. Then, people could just book the code wherever it IS still available, get to their hotel, say they don't like it (or maybe they already KNOW they don't like it but had this plan), and get moved to CSR yet keep their free dining (even though it was already sold out at CSR). If enough people do it, it negates WDWs reason for only having certain # of packages at each resort.

I dont know that this is your situation, I was just saying why I think they would look at it closely case by case. If you paid rack rate and paid for dining, got there and hated your hotel since you had booked it sight unseen, they could move you to another in same class (or to another class with you paying price difference) because there is no limit on # of those sold.

This probably got really confusing, hope my point was understood!!

Beth
