Changing Reservation Made Under Free Dining

I think I've been around the DIS long enough to know the answer, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Right now I have a reservation for free dining at the end of August. I don't think I'm going to be able to go at that time (and possibly not at all). Is it possible to change the reservation to another time (November or December maybe) and keep the free dining? I'm 99% sure the answer is no, but thought I'd ask anyway.

You're 100% right. You'll lose the free dining. Hopefully they'll come out with free dining again. I had it for Dec. 2009.

Did you use a pin or a general public offer? I know when you use a pin, you can change your reservation, as long as there is room availability and the pin is good during that time frame (so the pin would need to have been good thru dates in Nov/Dec AND there would need to still be rooms available for that pin.) But I think if it was just a public offer, then you can't change it after the offer expires.

I was able to switch resorts and still keep my free dining. I had booked in Dec for a stay at POFQ in August.....just a couple of weeks ago I switched my reservation to POR and was able to keep my free dining. It can't hurt to call. You just never know.

You can apparently switch resorts now if you stay within the promotion period - but you can't move to a date outside the promotion parameters and keep the promotion. You'll have to wait to see if they release promotions that include your new dates.

We moved ours from late Aug to Sept 15. The CM had to get guest realations on the phone on his end. No problem to switch at all as long as it was still in the oruginal free dining time frame and your resort still had availability.

True! As long as your new dates fall completely within the dates of the original promotion and as long as the resort has rooms available that were originally listed for that promotion then you can change. We've done that several times (switched dates and/or resorts). They will not let you move a free dining to some date in the future that falls outside the dates of the original offer though. If they did that people would book free dining for late August then move their reservation to whatever dates they really wanted (Christmas, New Years, or even spring break).
