changing package to room only

I was having trouble deciding between booking room only (and hoping for an AP code) and booking the 4/3 package deal since it was extended to include our July dates. The cast member said that if I book the package, I could call back and switch to room only if an AP rate came out that was better than the package. He said switching from package to room only is no problem. Switching from room only to a package can be difficult, however. Does anyone know if this is true? Is it just a matter of a phone call to switch your package to a room only ressie. Thank you so much for you help.

Being a proud member of the Icantmakeupmymindclub It has been my experience that when I call to change from a package to a room only or vice versa, They cancel one and start an entirely new ressie. They credit any money that I have paid and then charge my card for the new reservation.

Thanks, RMAmom. Being a member of that very club is why I asked the question. Trying to cover all of our bases to get the best deal on this vacation is making me looney.:headache:

I've switched from room-only to package twice. And I'll probably do it again later this year! It was easy, and they just refund one deposit and you make another. I don't know why it would be more difficult to go from room-only to package. I am interested to see if anyone has an explanation.
