DH is going to be 30 in about 18 months. We have discussed many options for celebrating this occasion for him and his latest idea is that he wants to go to WDW to see Halloween transition into Christmas. Has anyone done this? I was reviewing the dates that this would be and it's about a 12 night stay based on this year's timeline. Are these dates fairly consistent from year to year? We have DVC and I am just trying to figure out how many points I need to scrape together over the next 2 years until this trip before I make any commitments to this.

now that would be very cool! I am not sure when that happens, the folks in resorts and or theme parks may know better

what a great trip that willbe

Halloween decor is really only at MK.It comes down the day after the last MNSSHP of the year. This year that was Nov 1st. The Christmas decor goes up throughout the month of November and is completed in time for Thanksgving.
The Mk is the only thing finished in early November for the first MVMCP.This year that was Nov 10th.

From what I saw for 2009 The Osborn lights started 11/10 as well as MVMCP. I just wonder if they always do Halloween through 11/1 or not because that would make a difference of a day for us. It's just hard to bank on something especially with WDW making cost-cutting changes. So far I am planning on coming 10/31 and leaving 11/12. Our daughter will be just over 2 and I'm afraid that traveling 6 hours in the car and then staying out late for MNSSHP on 10/31 might be too much for her. His other idea was to go to WDW for the 40-year anniversary of MK for 10/1.

Dh and I were in Disney last year around 11/18. It was during that tim ethey started to put out the resort decorations (we were at the Beach Club) and the gingerbread houses were starting to be put up.
I don't remember the exact days of our trip but when we got there was nothing (at the resort) and by the time we left a lot of the decorations were going up.

True. But last year( 2008) Osborne lights did not start till Thanksgiving weekend and The MNSSHP ended 10/31..It varies by what day of the week Halloween falls on too.It is something that is hard to plan around since the only thing disney GUARANTEES is that the decor will be up for Thanksgiving weekend

We have enough points to do the 12 nights. I would think that even if the Osborn lights aren't up that MVMCP will be up and running (since that's a money maker). We are going 2010 for Christmas anyway so if we miss Osborn it will be disappointing but not so much since we will have seen them the year before. He told me yesterday that he wants to do the Lunch with an Imagineer and the Backstage Magic Tour (or whichever one does all 4 parks).
