Changing Name on MagicBand

I am just in the process of customizing our Magicbands. It gives you the option of customizing the name that appears in the band and I also assume it is what appears on the screens for the CMs at FP+?

If you change the name to something silly, like you nickname, has anyone ever had any problems with it causing issues with the Magicband? Just don't want to have issues with the scanning of our bands if the name does not match to what is on the reservation.

The name entered during customization only appears on the under (skin) side of the MagicBand. The name on the MDE profile is what appears on the screen.

No problems. We go with "Mom" "Dad" and my daughters nickname. We did this last year with no issues.

Just keep an eye on the status of your MB's -- mine were supposed to ship 30 days prior to my arrival date, but they were still available for customization almost 2 weeks later.

So I called and found out that since I used DH's middle name instead of his first name, the 'system' interpreted that as a misspelling and put my MB order 'on hold' (whatever that really means). It didn't notify anyone (me or a CM) about the issue though. We only found this out once I called to see what the delay was all about.

So -- although plenty of people use nicknames with no problems, be aware of where your order is in the process. If they don't ship at 30 days out, you may need to follow up.

I know taht this is what some CMs are saying, but I think they've misunderstood. When ours were on hold, and in the thread where it's discussed it's mentioned a few times, the hold is caused by an issue between the name on MDE and the name in the shipping info. And it seems to be happening mainly with 3rd party bookings, ike through hotels.com or Expedia.

There's a disconnect between the name on the account and the name on the reservation, and THAT is the name issue. I'm not sure the CMs saying that it's the MB nicknames really know what they are talking about. The whole point of the nickname is that it's a *nickname*, not necessarily your name, and if it were so then tons of people would be having the hold issue.

I have used my Nick name/Name I go by every time I've done MB. and never had issue getting mine. Granted mine is just going from legal name to my name by taking off 1 letter. Only reason my legal name is even on MDE is because of cruise profile.

Last trip we had five colors and being from boston used the following names
Red - Red Sox
Blue - patriots
Green - celtics
Yellow - bruins
Pink - survivor
