I booked a package with hotel/tickets and airport transfers but after reading some very bad reviews of cabana bay I want to change to the new hotel they will be opening this summer, my question is do I have to book a whole new package or can I just change the hotel portion of the trip? thanks

Usually when a change of hotel is involved, it's treated as a cancellation (penalty fee) and a new booking
package rules might be different. Look at the T&Cs you agreed to, to know what binds you

If I may add, changing hotels because of a few bad reviews (drowned in the middle of a sea of positive reviews, might not do any good.
We have 2 weeks booked at CBBR in August, and we'll be sticking to that reservation

all of the negatives posted on this forum could happen anywhere, at any hotel.
Last October, at Royal Pacific, there was a room service cart, with half eaten stuff on it, parked outside a suite, and right by our door. It was there when we arrived at the hotel by noon, and it was still there when we checked out the next day.
And i'm sure every one of us here have stories of things that were 'not right'

your trip seems to be in almost a year (as per your ticker) for all you know, they might have gone back on track at CBBR, and it might go downhill at Sapphire Falls and be even worse that the reviews that scared you. Who knows ?

I come back from a terrible stay at Disney's last october
It was supposed to be 3 weeks at OKW. Room was not suitable, we were downgraded to Coronado Springs. Had to beg to be refunded the price difference
At Coronado Springs we didn't receive proper housekeeping. Mind you that over 18 nights, we had room cleaning and fresh towels on only 4 mornings ... I had to go down to Concierge 13 times to complain.
Now that's a scary story.
Does it mean I gave up on Disney ? ... well at first I overreacted and said I was done with them. But I'll be at Port Orleans for 9 nights in a couple of months.

Dirty and rude should not happen at any resort, but it does. And it can happen at any resort, no matter how many times you change your booking, if it's gonna happen, it will happen.

Relax.

thank you for your awesome response. and actually I need to change my ticker, its still almost a year and you are right, bad service and bad reviews can happen anywhere/anytime :)

I agree with Chmurf. We had a terrible stay at the Poly a few years ago. Filthy room with brown smears on the wall outside the bathroom. Lots of mold in the shower. Carpet full of stains outside the room. Definitely not up to Disney standards and we paid a ton more for that room than I'm sure you're paying for Cabana Bay. We've been back since then and are headed to DL in a couple of weeks.

If you encounter an issue just deal with it immediately.

Don't let that sway your stay. Coming from someone that is there so much and staying onsite I have seen it all.

If anything is wrong while there speak to management ASAP. They are there to help and I understand people expect perfect but life is sometimes not.
