changing from 2 to 1 br.?

I have a question about a reservation change. MY DW and I have a vacation set in nov. for a week at S.S. We have a 2 br set for us and our best friends. Our friends just found out that they are having a baby and will not be able to come. MY question is, what are my options for changing to a 1 br., will we be able to do this and still keep those points or is it a lost cause?

It depends ... as long as your arrival date is 31 or more days from now, you may change to a 1BR (based on availability) and the points will be returned to your account to be used or banked subject to normal banking deadlines.

If you are within 30 days of arrival at this time, the points returned will become "Holding Account" points where they may only be used to make a reservation within 60 days of the date you call. They cannot be banked and will expire at the end of the current Use Year.

All of this is dependant on whether there is availability for a 1BR villa. I'd check that first before cancelling the other reservation. Worst case scenario is that you'd have to enjoy a 2BR villa!

What you can't do is just convert a 2 BR to a 1 BR or a studio. If the unit type you want is available, then you can change it and then have to deal with the extra points in some way.
