I just noticed that my flight to Orlando decreased by $10 and I bought 5 tickets so I was wondering how one goes about getting the reduced rate. Can I do this on-line or do I need to call SW, and would you even bother for $50.

Thanks.

I would give Southwest a call and ask. Yes, I would bother for 50.00

If purchase on-line you can only make changes on-line. This from SW CS. Of course you talk to two CS Reps you get two diff answers sometimes but this is policy as far as I can tell.

go to http://www.southwest.com

click on travel center- click on change air reservation.
type in confirmation number and credit card name.

You will get a screen that likes a lot like the reservation screen.
I believe you can only make changes to one leg of the trip at a time but am not 100 % sure of this.

Keep same date and flight but choose new fare rate.

Get out of it and you will wind up with at least a credit for the difference. (call 1-800-IFLYSWA and see if you can get a refund)

This worked for me and may not work for you. But be careful as you can easily mess up the reservation ie: different date or city or flight. Double check all changes.

If you have multiple passengers one one confirmation number this may affect you're doing this. Calll and have the res split. At least you can then check-in on line at midnight on day of travel.

Your mileage may vary. Just my experience and .02

As to what changes can be made by the SWA rep. depends on what fare you purchased. If it is an internet only fare, then the rep. cannot do anything except walk you through the change steps. If it is another fare type, they can change it for you.
You can change both legs of your trip at once, should you want to. You have the option of changing one or both.
Sometimes that change screen will take a fare drop, sometimes it won't. Seems kiind of quirky. Glad it worked for you.
Not knowing what type of fare the OP had is why I suggested she call Southwest.

Thanks for the help everyone, I will give it a try.
