I have an AP which will expire in December. My grandson's AP expires in July.
We have become Disney travel buddies since my traveling companions can no longer go with me when I want and his father has had his fill of Disney (My son but I might have to disown him)
I would like our AP expiration dates to be the same since it will make it easier to plan trips.
Can I pay the difference on his AP and have it expire in December with mine or do we have to wait until mine expires and buy both and have him go with out an AP for a few months?
If I can pay the difference it means I will finally bring him to MNSSHP and MVMCP this year, if we can't we will sit out this year and go next.

You cannot pay to extend an AP for X months. It's an all-or-nothing deal. You will have to purchase MYW tickets for him for the travel period between July and December if you want your APs to have the same expiration dates. Just keep in mind that you will lose the discount you get for an AP renewal when you do this. So, in addition to buying MYW tickets for him, you will be spending an additional $48 on his AP so that you can have the same expiration date.

If you know you guys are always going and want APs, does it really make a difference to have renewal dates be different?

This is what I wondered as well? Just pay for renewal of each as they come due. That way you save on the renewal and they are always current.

MNSSHP and MVMCP aren't covered on the AP, are they? So that would be out-of-pocket.

If you let his expire in July and buy a new one in October (so you can do the parties), then next year let it run out in October and renew it in December and it will be aligned with yours then.

I will just have to renew his on time I guess. We already have a trip planned for the 4th of July and his expires on the 2nd of July so it's either renew or pay the ridiculous rate for MYW.
I am a DVC member so I get a good discount off his AP but I would like for them to be the same.
I remember reading once about someone adding 6 months to their AP but it was many many years ago.

Does he live with you? I thought only family members in the same household could get the DVC discount.

yes he does live with me not that it is any of your business. But that has nothing to do with the question does it? Why, want to turn me in for buying an AP for my grandson with my DVC discount/

No, I guess it wasn't my business, but I wondered if I was wrong about the discount parameters. That's why I asked. I wasn't accusing you of anything. I'm sorry you took it that way.

Wow.... :rolleyes2

To the PP, I don't think you were accusing anyone of anything. I think you were asking a question. Sad that people can be so mean.

To the OP, for the record, you made it the world's business when you put it on a very public forum. Personally I don't understand the need to attack. Not cool, IMO.

Moving on.

I won't apologize for attacking anyone because it was not meant as an attack. As soon as that post was put on asking me about my grandson living with me I received 3 PM's all accusing me of using DVC benefits for people who don't live with me, cheating Disney and being a low life. Yes, someone actually called me a low life. I was told by one person that they would be calling DVC to notify them that I was purchasing an AP for a non family member. I know my email is public, I have never hidden who I am but to send emails to me telling me how I am cheating DVC and Disney is out of line and I don't know who did send them but they came right after HM posted.
I did not put my personal business out for the world to see, all I asked is if you can add on to an AP to make the dates the same. How by saying I take my grandson with me does that open my personal business to the world?
I also have no problem letting everyone here and anywhere know that my son is divorced, he has full custody of my grandson and they both moved back to live with me when that happened. My grandson and I travel to WDW at least twice a year and go on other trips together whenever he has time off of school.
By the way, I am divorced, used to be a nurse before I became disabled thanks to the wonderful world of cancer, collect (OH MY GOD!!! disability and SSDI, have had some financial difficulties in the past, have a son who was a Marine, and a son who is in the Army now... I could go on but I never post anything on a message board that I am ashamed of or care if anyone knows. I keep what I want private the way it should be kept, private.....
Moving ON!!

Wow oh wow. So sorry you got blasted privately. That's just not right.

I asked a simple question related to your post and others felt the need to be ugly and nasty. Shame on them. :sad2:

OP, now might be a time to unlink your email from Disboards and only accept PMs (which you can ignore if you want).

And I can see why your reply to me was written that way....
