Hello,

Not sure if this makes sense to me or not. I booked the 5+2 Dream Maker Package for my family for 11/6 - 11/13. I had been shopping around for flights and realized that I'd save myself $400 or so dollars if I changed the dates to 11/5 - 11/12 (basically going a day earlier and leaving a day early). So I tried to get in touch with my travel agent who made the reservations for the package for us and could not get a hold of her.

I was afraid I was going to miss out on the great priced flights, so I booked the flights thinking that it would not be a big deal for Disney to just change our reservations so that we arrive a day early and leave a day early.

Well, apparently I was wrong. I notified my travel agent of what I booked for flights and she said that Disney was giving her a hard time because we booked the 5+2 Package and we cannot make changes to it since the special is over!!! We're still going for 7 days! 6 of the days are the same days we already have booked, basically we are just asking to come a day earlier and we are opening up the room for another guest to use the Saturday we are not using now. I don't see what the special ending has to do with anything. It's still within the dates you are supposed to travel within for the special and I'm not completely rearranging the dates that I'm traveling. Our travel agent said that if she can't get them to change it without penalty then she'll see about "breaking out the room" (not sure what that means) or future specials.

Anyone have a smiliar experience?

Sorry if this is confusing. I was trying to save money with the flights and now I may have just ended up spending more..Ug!

I don't know if it will help, but ... I have read that people have been able to change their package (even after the special was over) if they upgraded resorts. Where are you staying? Can you upgrade a level? Or maybe add on the silver plan.

Maggie

Upgraded? So do you mean from a Standard Room to a Preferred Room? I'm staying at the All Star Movies Resort.

Thanks for the tip! :D

I'm not sure about just adding the preferred room. I'm not saying that it won't work, but I have heard of people being able to switch from, say, Port Orleans to AKL. Or something like that. As long as Disney is getting more money. People were NOT able to switch if they were downgrading, like AKL to POR. Disney would lose money on that.

So, maybe adding the preferred room would be enough?

I asked about this when I made our ressies for the 5+2, because I knew there was a good chance our dates would change because of DH work. The CM told me at that time that if we had to change dates, it would have to be done by 6/28, because that was the date the special offer ended and you couldn't make changes after that and still get the special rate.

Sorry it's not much help....

Yay!!! Our Travel Agent was able to change our reservations without any extra charge!

With the talk of the Upgrading, I started to look into Moderate Resorts and we really liked the Caribbean Beach Resort. We had our agent look into this and she was able to upgrade us for only an extra $230!!! So looks like we will spend more money, but it's all evening out since we had originally planned on spending $400 more on flights than we really did. Plus we had just spent a week at AKL last September and I bet staying at a Value Resort after staying there would be a shock...so it's probably good that we're upgrading to the Moderate :sunny:

Well, thanks for the input...looks like it all worked out for the best.

I'm glad you were able to upgrade! We stayed at CBR on our first trip, and it was absolutely wonderful! Hope you enjoy it!

Were staying at CBR also on the 7 for 5 package september 11th to the 18th for are one year anniversary. KELLY

Hey Kelly!

Our one year anniversary is September 14th! :)

We were not planning on going back to WDW until our 5th year anniversary, however we saw the 5+2 offer and had to take advantage to bring the kids since they've never been.

Have a great trip!

Stacy

it is so funny! I read your post and we are going from 11/6-11/13! We got an awesome airfare of $223 r/t from California. We are sooo excited! I would have changed my date to get a deal on airfare also!

maybe we'll see you there!

we also have the 5+2 dreammaker package... and a few days after the "sale" ended, i had decided that i wanted to add the prince/princess add-on... when i called back, they told me they could not take a change in the ressie or i would lose the 5+2 deal... i said forget it... i was kinda surprised that they would not take more of my money! their loss... and i'm sure because sept is a low time, we'll be just fine w/out the special seating for the shows...
