Changing dates. Columbus Day weekend crowd?

I may have to change my original dates for WDW which was for last week of Sept (9/29 - 10/6), and so in trying to keep w/in value rate season for Poly the last date I would be able to get value rate would be 10/4. So I'm thinking of changing it to 10/4 - 10/11, how bad really is the Columbus Day weekend crowd, if at all?
I checked into later dates in Oct (regular season) and it came out to about $370 difference in price btwn value and regular rate for the 7 nite stay ($ that i could spend on meals, shopping etc)
