Changing date of unused multi-day park tickets

Apparently, I don't have AP and am purchasing park tickets by cash. I searched forum and haven't found a direct answer. There are two parts of questions:
1. Assume I purchase a dated multi-day ticket, linked to my account, but haven't used it. Then, some plan changed and I want to reschedule it to several months later. Is that allowed, and is it straightforward to do?
How many times may I change the dates?
2. Assuming the answer of 1. is yes, I am aware that price difference might need to be paid. Here is the complication, if I bought the ticket from third party, let's say dvcresalemarket, how much are my tickets valued? At the price I paid, or at a different value (say directly purchased from disney)?

Thanks in advance!

I’m not sure about #1 - I believe you can change dates via MDE, but I’m not certain of that, meaning you might have to call. But yes, you can change dates and pay the difference (no refund if new dates cost less than original dates, though).

I’m more confident in my answer to #2 - if you buy from an authorized reseller, you should be given credit for the amount the ticket cost on Disney’s website the day you bought it. So look that up and keep a record of it!

You might want to ask on the Ticket sticky, https://www.disboards.com/threads/t...your-ticket-questions-to-this-thread.3570721/, for expert advice!

In the park, I have had trouble with part #2. It is supposed to work, but I have repeatedly had trouble with this at WDW. Some CM's tried to give me the amount that the 3rd party paid. For that matter, i have even had trouble reinstating tickets I bought through WDW.

Other people have had better luck than i have.

I advise you to do the math yourself, to find out how much the ticket should be worth before you call or go to change the ticket. If a CM undervalues it, try asking a different CM.

There used to be ticket information sticky thread, but the person who maintained it is no longer posting here.

You can change dates. I did it in October. It was a few dollars more. I did it on the phone.
Cool! You two answered my questions collectively haha! Very informative!
Now I am more motivated to buy tickets on sale knowing I will definitely go but only ~95% sure about the date

Great to know! I know CM can give different answers even when certain guideline exists. Good advice to keep a record!

We went last year and had bought 8 day date-specific park tickets on Undercover Tourist. Before we activated them by going through the gate for the first time, we realized we were only going to be going to the parks for 5 days. So we went to customer service. Again, this was BEFORE WE ACTIVATED them by going through the gates for the first time. We told them we were only using 5 days of the 8 day date specific tickets. They gave us 3 non-expiring, park-hopper tickets.

That's interesting! I didn't think they do that. I have a 14 day hopper for my next trip and I'm not going to use probably 4-5 of the days. So they are going to give me 4 one day park hopper tickets if I ask before I actually use the ticket and change it to a 10 day hopper? That's either a big unknown loophole or they made a mistake, especially since they are non expiring. Doesn't sound right. @lanejudy does this sound right? Have you heard of this before?

Can number of days go beyond 10? Also, is it worthy to get an annual pass if you are going this many days?

You received some really big pixie dusting there! That is not standard and nobody should expect it. If you purchase too many days on the ticket those will go unused and there is usually no refund or ability to remove the extra days.

US tickets max out at 10 days. If you want longer you can buy a second ticket or an AP -- price it out to see which is better. The PP mentioned a 14-day ticket which is offered in the UK.

@lanejudy is 100% correct. I bought the 14 day ticket from the UK site. I have done it in the past, I paid less than $600 USD for a 14 day hopper ticket with water parks and memory maker. The dates are for the "slow" season. I never use all the days and never would have even thought to ask for separate tickets for not using all the days or shortening the ticket. I think there is probably more to the story.

UK ticket. 14 days this fall with water parks and memory maker for less than $600. Bought during the Black Friday sale.

Oh, that's a smart move! Are you US resident? When I googled it, it said no, but I have seen people posting positive experience buying and using tickets from the UK site.

I am, Boston! I used Attractions Tickets UK to buy them (the UK site, not the US site). There's a thread here about them. I had to make a change and their customer service was great - you have to keep in mind the time difference, so it may be a day before you hear back.

No more to the story. We simply went to customer service before scanning at the first park and asked if there was anything that could be done. They said they couldn't give us a refund, but he'd give us 3 non-expiring, park-hopper tickets since we weren't going to be using 3 days of our 8 day ticket. Plain and simple. Nothing more. Just go to CS before activating the tickets and ask.

That's great they did that! I wouldn't count on it happening again! Maybe I'll ask and see what they say on my upcoming trip.
