Changing age groups -- Register for kids' clubs at the terminal or on the ship?

We are hoping that our twins can be "bumped" from the Club to the Lab. They will turn 8 within two weeks of our cruise date, plus big brother (age 9) can be hesitant in new situations and he would appreciate having his brothers in the Lab with him.

I understand from reading several threads that these decisions are made by the kids' club CMs on a case-by-case basis. Would it be easier to wait to register the kids until we get on the ship and know whether the twins will be in the Club versus the Lab -- or is it best to go ahead and register in the terminal and then change onboard if they approve the "bump" ?

As long as the group you want them in is not busting at the seems they will let you do it especially as close as they are to eight! The CM's from the clubs usually do the check in so you should be able to get it done at the teminal check in.

We had a similar situation last year with our daughter. She was about a week away from her birthday, and wanted to be in the group with the kids "her age" and with her older brother. We registered both kids online, then skipped the terminal line (mostly because it was HUGE when we arrived) and went straight to the kids' club. They checked us in quickly, and told us our daughter could go with whichever group she wanted, as neither were at capacity. So it worked out wonderfully.

I am hoping for the same on our trip....DD and DS will turn 8 just 2 1/2 weeks after our cruise and we want to bump them up. We are going with another family and their DD will already be 8....

If they are within 30 days of the birthday, moving to the older group is no issue at all. You should register them on line just so their information is already on the computer. Then, either at the terminal or after you board you'll talk to the CM, get your wristband and pager, etc...the CM will allow you to put them in the older group if you wish.

On our Sept cruise, we did this with my child who was within 2 wks of his bday and moved him up to the Lab. We registered him online and then at the terminal, but then had to go to the clubs to have him moved up to the next level. I would say to register your children online and then skip the terminal and do everything at the clubs since the terminal will send you there to have them moved up anyway.

HTH,
Lorraine
