I currently have a few ADR's booked (CP, BOG, H&V fantasmic dinner, Star wars dessert party), but they aren't at my ideal times. I was told the H&V has a 48 hour cancellation policy.

I have a few questions:

1. If another ADR opens up the day of our current ADR's and I want to switch, I am assuming I can't without being charged. For example I have CP at 8:40, but would prefer 8am. If my chance an 8am opens up the day before can I change it and not be charged?

2. We have the reservation for a group of 5 people. It is reserved under my CC, but for some chance someone in the other party of 2 gets sick or decides not to go will I be charged for having less people than reserved? (I don't foresee this happening, but you never know)

3. Is the fantasmic dinner with the FP+ worth the extra $7 per person? We will have a 2 year old with us and I think she will enjoy it, but there is always a chance she won't. I know she won't wait 45-1hr in line like it is suggested to do without a FP+ and we are using our FP+ in another park that day.

4. How is the character interaction at the Minnie Dinner? My daughter is obsessed with Minnie so she will love seeing her. Do they do a parade or dance?

5. Is the Star Wars dessert party worth the money? I know it just started and I haven't seen any reviews yet, but I am not sure if anyone has any insider knowledge about it. We did the MK one before the price increase and really liked it. I'm just not sure what makes this one more $69 vs the Epcot one for $49. Is it because its star wars?

For number 1 you would be charged if you cancelled through the app but you might have success showing up early. You could also call the Disney dining line and see if they can help you, they might be able to change the time on their end without a fee.
For number 2 I know we had no problems at all when 2 of our 6 person party dropped out of meals on our December trip.
Not sure about the other questions but the star wars fire works were amazing so I'm betting the dessert party would be great too! :)

Keep in mind that the actual cancellation policy for most restaurants is "the day before," not "24 hours before." As long as you cancel before midnight, you won't be charged.

1. If you cancel on the same day, you will be charged.
2. No, the fee is for not showing up at all. As long as one person shows up, there will be no fee.
3. Would you pay $7 for an extra tier-1 fast pass? I think it's worth it, but I don't know if a 2 year old will enjoy the show.
4.
5. It's probably not worth the price, but people will pay it. I cancelled my reservation for the Frozen/Osborne dessert party.

You should understand that you don't spend 45 minutes standing in line for F! They open the theatre, and you are sitting most of that time. There is music playing, trivia, singing, the wave, s giant beachball being tossed around. Vendors sell snacks and light up toys.

Ok good. This is how I remember it being, but our TA has stressed how important it is to be early so we get a seat. Ideally I would like to sit in the back and stay if she likes the show, but if she is tired or doesn't enjoy we can go. Thanks!

This is correct, but I'll add the caveat that the online system has an annoying habit of going down just when you need it to be up. If you can make a final decision early, you're safer if you don't wait until 11:56 to do the cancellation.
1. If you cancel on the same day, you will be charged.
As noted above, if you talk to a phone agent for a same-day *change*, it's possible to avoid the fee. Not automatic, but possible.

I just did #1, granted on the day of (tried the day before to do it too, but no luck). I was able to find a better timed reservation day of and booked it via the app. After,it would not let me cancel the reservation I had for an hour earlier, same restaurant, because it was for that day. I called Disney Dining and they didn't seem to have a problem cancelling the reservation and waiving the fee for me.

Thanks everyone. So some small changes, but I was able to get the star wars dessert party for Sat night while I am there and the other couple has decided to join us. I am now second guessing going back to HS just to do the Minnie Dinner another night. My daughter really really really likes Minnie and dancing (she is just under 2) and I like how they do a dance party for this show. I am not sure if it is worth going pack to HS for our last night just to do this dinner though. Would you skip it?

Do you have Park Hoppers? Would you be giving up another park to go back to HS?

Your daughter can dance with Minnie at Club Disney - it's located near RNRC. Not very crowded and is open from park open throughout the complete day. Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Chip and Dale are there.

We do have hoppers. Giving up another park is hard to say because it will depend on how our 2 year old does the rest of the days. Right now the plan is

Thursday:
-arrive 1pm (hoping to check in)
- head to MK for a 3pm hair cut for DD
- fp+ for peterpan, beauty and the beast and wishes at 8pm

Friday
- Epcot
- fp+ for tt, nemo, spaceship earth
-lunch at akershus
-nap and no evening plans

Sat
- animal kingdom am (they now have emh at 7am and there is no way we will be up by then, so I'm not sure if we should do AK another day.)

-HS after nap fp+ for toy story, 2 shows
- star wars dessert party 7pm

Sun
- Mk all day
- pre park opening CP breakfast

Monday
- wanted to do either AK or Mk and then dinner at Saana

hiroMyHero brought up a good alternative - Club Disney. Can't you do that on your HS day? I'm a bit biased about giving up dinner at Sanaa because I want to do that very badly on my next trip!

. . . you can and (in most cases) WILL BE charged the $10/person No-Show fee
. . . if not, people would double-book reservations and cancel the one the didn't want
. . . this is EXACTLY what the No-Show Penalty was meant to solve, and it is working well in that regard

2. We have the reservation for a group of 5 people. It is reserved under my CC, but for some chance someone in the other party of 2 gets sick or decides not to go will I be charged for having less people than reserved? (I don't foresee this happening, but you never know)
. . . you only get charged when no one shows up for the ADR

. . . this is strictly up to the people involved
. . some say Yes, some day No

4. How is the character interaction at the Minnie Dinner? My daughter is obsessed with Minnie so she will love seeing her. Do they do a parade or dance?
. . . pretty good
. . . but, no individual character spends more time than the others
. . . the Character Handler makes certain no characters are monopolized
. . . characters have to make a "circuit" on schedule, so they can't get delayed

5. Is the Star Wars dessert party worth the money?
. . . in our opinion, not worth the price
