I'm an obsessive planner...ok I admit that...SO...

My BIL and MIL "may" join us for our trip in June, but won't actually know for sure until Feb. or Mar. However, I NEED (ok...HAVE) to make my ADR's at 180 days out. I have 14 of them and some are the hard to snag ones like CRT, Le Cellier, etc. I know if I wait until my in-laws know for sure they're coming, no seats (or the times I'm hoping for) will be available. Do I go ahead and make the ressies for 5 people and then call back in Mar. to change it down to 3 if they don't go? Can I just drop people from my reservation, or do I need to make a new one?

Or do I just say I HAVE to know if they're coming by Dec. and go from there?

What would you guys do?

Planning for extended family is hard, isn't it? :crazy2:

We took our MIL and FIL last Dec. I made all of our res. for 8 people. I didn't know which meals they wanted to eat with us. When we got to the restaurant I just told them we have 6. It was never a problem.

If you change your ressie they will cancel it. They will only rebook it based on availability.

Make it for the most people you will have. They haven't cared in the past if fewer show up. There are times when it actually helps get you seated quicker if fewer show up. I can't think of any time when we have been charged for having fewer show up.

It is much harder if more people show up and can even negate the ADR since you will need a bigger table.
