Changing Accounts On An Existing Reservation

I've searched but can't seem to find someone asking this exact question. I have an existing account with a bunch of BLT points. We're planning a trip later this year and will be staying somewhere other than BLT. I'm working on buying a contract for the property we stay at on the resale market.

If I make a reservation at another property (let's say SSR) with my BLT points now (while inside 7 months), can I transfer the reservation to my SSR points later on, or does the reservation have to use the same points it was reserved with?

Hope I'm explaining my question clearly.

If you reserve within 7 months, you should be able to reallocate the reservation using points from a different resort. If the reservation was made at 11 months, you would not be allowed to reallocate with non-Home resort points later (unless there was availability for the same reservation), but within 7 months points from any resort may be used.

Thanks, Doc! Now, just to get through ROFR. :)

Will your new points be the same use year as your current ones so that the new contract can be under the same membership? If not, then I wonder if you would need to transfer new points to your original membership before you could do any reallocating of points. And you would need to be careful that the new points were in the use year of the reservation because transferred points can't be borrowed. If the new contract is the same use year as your current contract then you shouldn't have these potential complications.

Like Jean I'm thinking it may depend on whether the new points come under the same master contract as you're current points, if so and assuming they are made at under 7 months, then you should be OK to just substitute the points. If you end up with different master you'll likely have to cancel and rebook but it's likely to depend in large part on who you get when you call.
