Changing a Southwest Ressie?

MIL told us over Mother's Day she had breast cancer and had surgery scheduled for May the 18th, the day before we are scheduled to leave.
Surgery is now scheduled for the 25th, right in the middle of our trip.
I booked our fights online. If I have to postpone/chane the trip, does anyone know what my options are?
I am trying to get a game plan together incase we need to change our plans.

It's possible that if you call and explain the circumstances they will give you a refund. Even if they don't, with SWA at least you won't be penalized for canceling or changing the flights. You can go online and click on the Change Flight link in the Quick Air Links box on the right side of the page. From there you can cancel and get full credit toward a future flight or you can reschedule right then. In the latter case, if the new flight is less than what you paid you will get a credit for the difference and if the new flight is more you will have to pay the difference. With SWA there will be no change fees in either case.

Sorry to hear the sad news. I have never had a problem changing my flights with SW, its really easy, you can do it online. Hope it all works out for you.

You must fly, not just book your new flight, within a year of the date you made your original reservation. Credits can now only be used for a flight by the original passenger.

I knew you all would set my mind at ease.

DH is still sorting this out and can't really decide. MIL only wants my SIL there to care for her, which I understand.
She has another dr. appt. next week and the situation may change again.
The whole family is telling us to go, but I don't want to get down there and have DH regret it.
