Our older daughter will be going to Europe with a friends family instead of on the cruise. My MIL is now thinking of taking her place. Is there a charge for switching people? Do we have to cancel our daughter and rebook MIL at a different rate? If anyone has done this I would appreciate any info.
Thanks, Jane

I just did this for our December '06 cruise. DD got pregnant and can't go so I substituted my best friend. I just called DCL and told them I needed to take my DD off and substitute my BF ... there was no change in the cost of my cruise.

Last year I had to remove my DIL from our ressies ... since that left DS and his DS in the room I got a bit of a reduction, but not much b/c my grandson ended being charged as an adult (first 2 people in stateroom are charged as adults regardless of age).

As long as one name on ther reservation stays the same, the cruise lines don't have a problem changing names -- up until documents are generated. Once they issue the documents, there is usually a minimal fee to change the name.

Yes I believe you should be fine! I hope your daughter enjoys Europe!

surfergirl----You ARE the bravest woman and I give you many kudos for sharing your room with your MIL :rotfl:

Windermerejudy: Actually I'm not that brave because we have 2 staterooms booked and she would be in the other one! :earboy2:

When I wanted to change a name on our reservation Disney wanted to charge the new rate for the cruise - the story is:

2 adjoining cabins - 2 adults and 1 child in cabin #1 and 1 adult and 1 child in cabin #2. Wanted to switch one adult for one adult (putting a castaway cay member in each room so to get a gift in each room). Rooms have two different reservations numbers although paid in total by me, reservations were made by me etc. Fortunately my travel agent prevailed and we weren't charged but it took 45 minutes and a supervisor to insure that we weren't. Our documents were not printed at that point! Tread carefully
